Abstract

A method is disclosed which sets a PoC Box service and transmits information on a service identifier by using a standard SIP, a SDP, an XCAP, and a PAP, in order to remain compatible with conventional PoC technology when performing call processing of session connection using a PoC Box. Further, the method stores only pre-designated media in a PoC Box according to a type of media transmitted in consideration of features of a PoC multimedia session.

Claims

1. A method for performing a media storage service in a push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) network, the method comprising the steps of:

requesting the media storage service by a PoC client that will not participate in a session; and

transmitting media generated and transmitted by an arbitrary PoC client to a media storage during the session.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the media storage service utilizes a PoC Box.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the media storage service utilizes a proxy storage for storing the media.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the step of requesting the media storage service is performed before the session is established.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein the step of requesting the media storage service is performed while the session is in progress by a PoC client that can no longer participate in the session.

6. The method according to claim 4, wherein the step of requesting the media storage service utilizes Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) PUBLISH.

The method according to claim 1, wherein, after the step of requesting the media storage service, a PoC server to which the PoC client requesting the media storage service belongs transmits a response message including a media storage, service request identifier to a PoC server managing the session.

8. The method according to claim 1, wherein the PoC client requests that a type of media generated during the session to be stored

9. The method according to claim 1, further comprising, after requesting the media storage service, connecting the session between a PoC server to which the PoC client requesting the media storage service belongs and a media storage part of a PoC system to which the PoC client belongs.

10. The method according to claim 1, further comprising, receiving, by the PoC client, the stored-media from the media storage.

11. The method according to claim 1, wherein a PoC client that receives the media from the arbitrary PoC client transmits the media to the media storage.

12. A push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) system for performing a media storage service in a PoC network, the PoC system comprising:

a terminating PoC system including a terminating PoC client that requests the media storage service when not participating in a session, a terminating PoC server from which the media storage service of the terminating PoC client is requested, and a media storage that stores media according to a media storage service setting of the terminating PoC client; and

a PoC server that transmits media generated from an arbitrary originating PoC system to the media storage of the terminating PoC system requesting the media storage service, and manages the session.

13. The PoC system according to claim 12, wherein the media storage comprises a PoC Box.

14. The PoC system according to claim 12, wherein the media storage comprises a proxy storage for storing the media.

15. The PoC system according to claim 12, wherein the media storage service of the terminating PoC client is requested before the session is established.

16. The PoC system according to claim 12, wherein the media storage service is requested while the session is in progress when the terminating PoC client can no longer participate in the session.

17. The PoC system according to claim 12, wherein the media storage service is requested using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) PUBLISH.

18. The PoC system according to claim 12, wherein, after the media storage service is requested, the terminating PoC server to which the terminating PoC client requesting the media storage service belongs transmits a response message including a media storage service request identifier to the session-managing PoC server.

19. The PoC system according to claim 12, further comprising a second terminating PoC client that receives the media during the session transmits the media to the media storage.

The PoC system according to claim 12, wherein, after the media storage service is requested, the media is transmitted to the media storage when the session is connected between the terminating PoC server to which the terminating PoC client requesting the media storage service belongs and the media storage of the terminating PoC system to which the terminating PoC client belongs.

21. The PoC system according to claim 12, wherein the terminating PoC client receives the stored media from the media storage.

22. The PoC system according to claim 12, wherein the terminating PoC client requests a type of media to be stored in the media storage service.

23. A push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) client provided with a media storage service in a PoC network, the PoC client comprising:

means for requesting the media storage service from a PoC server managing a session when not participating in the session; and

means for transmitting media to a media storage of a PoC system to which the PoC client belongs, when media is transmitted by an arbitrary client when the media storage service is requested.

24. A push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) server for providing a media storage service in a PoC network, the PoC server comprising:

means for transmitting media to a media storage part of a PoC system to which a PoC client that does not participate in a PoC session belongs, when the media is transmitted by an arbitrary client and the media storage service is requested from the PoC client that does not participate in the session.
