Abstract

A method establishes a PoC multimedia session for making a PoC multimedia call according to a support attribute of a PoC terminal and sets media for each session. In the method, a message for setting a session management server to split arbitrary PoC user terminals according to an attribute of media to establish the session is transmitted from the arbitrary PoC user terminals to the session management server. An INVITE message according to the media attribute is transmitted from the session management server to each of the terminals based on the setting.

Claims

1. A method for establishing a session in a push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) network, the method comprising the steps of:

transmitting a message, for setting a session management server so as to split arbitrary PoC user terminals according to an attribute of media to establish the session, from the arbitrary PoC user terminals to the session management server; and

transmitting an INVITE message according to the media attribute from the session management server to each of the terminals based on the setting.

The method according to claim 1, wherein the step of transmitting the INVITE message according to the media attribute from the session management server to each of the terminals based on the setting comprises extracting a type of the media included in the INVITE message so that the session management server splits the terminals according to the media attribute, comparing the extracted information with information on the media set for each terminal, and combining routing information.

3. The method according to claim 2, wherein the session management server splits the received INVITE messages for the multimedia session to each corresponding media-specific routing address, and transmits the split INVITE messages to each terminal.

4. The method according to claim 2, wherein the session management server has a forking function for splitting and inviting the terminals according to each media attribute.

The method according to claim 1, further comprising, prior to the step of transmitting the message for splitting the arbitrary PoC user terminals according to the media attribute from the arbitrary PoC user terminals to the session management server, setting information used for splitting the terminals according to the media attribute for the session management server to which at least one of the terminals belongs.

6. The method according to claim 5, wherein the information used for splitting the terminals according to the media attribute uses a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) PUBLISH message.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein the SIP PUBLISH message has a format including an Event header for splitting the terminals according to each media attribute.

8. The method according to claim 7, wherein the Event header comprises a type of the terminal to be invited to the session according to each media attribute, address information on the corresponding terminal, and information on media support capability of the terminal.

9. The method according to claim 6, further comprising transmitting, at the session management server receiving the SIP PUBLISH message for the terminal split-off information, a response message to the client transmitting the SIP PUBLISH message.

10. The method according to claim 7, further comprising, at the client transmitting the SIP PUBLISH message for the terminal split-off information, requesting a SUBSCRIBE message to check the information set by the client or detect whether an event occurs;

and

when a response signal to the SUBSCRIBE message is received, transmitting a NOTIFY message including information on event update of the requesting of the SUBSCRIBE message to the client requesting to establish the session.

11. A method for splitting terminals according to an attribute of media of a push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) network to transmit the media, the method comprising the steps of:

transmitting a message, including information for receiving a part of the media from an arbitrary PoC user terminal which is receiving the media through another terminal, to a session management server; and

transmitting an INVITE message to the terminals to receive the media that is newly split and transmitted at the session management server.

12. The method according to claim 11, wherein the message including the information for receiving the part of the media from the PoC user terminal through the other terminal uses a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) REFER message.

13. The method according to claim 12, wherein the SIP REFER message comprises dialogue information of the session that is presently used.

14. A system for splitting terminals according to an attribute of media of a push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) network to establish a session, the system comprising:

a terminal split-off requesting PoC client for requesting to split terminating side terminals according to the media attribute to transmit the media;

at least one terminating PoC client for providing a function corresponding to the media attribute and receiving the transmitted media; and

a session management server for receiving a terminal split-off request message from the terminal split-off requesting PoC client, and transmitting an INVITE message for transmitting the media matched to a value of the media attribute to each terminal with reference to the media attribute value included in the terminal split-off request message.

The system according to claim 14, wherein the session management server extracts a type of the media included in the INVITE message so as to split the terminals according to the media attribute, compares the extracted information with information on the media set for each terminal, and combines routing information.

16. The system according to claim 14, wherein the session management server splits the received INVITE messages for the multimedia session to each corresponding media-specific routing address, and transmits the split INVITE messages to each terminal.

17. The system according to claim 15, wherein the session management server has a forking function for splitting and inviting the terminals according to each media attribute.

The system according to claim 14, wherein the at least one terminating PoC client sets information used for splitting the terminals according to the media attribute for the session management server to which the at least one terminating PoC client belongs, before the message for splitting the PoC user terminals according to the media attribute is transmitted from the PoC user terminals to the session management server.

19. The system according to claim 18, wherein the information used for splitting the terminals according to the media attribute uses a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) PUBLISH message.

20. The system according to claim 19, wherein the SIP PUBLISH message has a format including an Event header for splitting the terminals according to each media attribute.

21. The system according to claim 20, wherein the Event header comprises a type of the terminal to be invited to the session according to each media attribute, address information on the corresponding terminal, and information on media support capability of the terminal.

22. The system according to claim 19, wherein the session management server receiving the SIP PUBLISH message for the terminal split-off information transmits a response message to the client transmitting the SIP PUBLISH message.

The system according to claim 22, wherein the client transmitting the SIP PUBLISH message for the terminal split-off information requests a SUBSCRIBE message to check the information set by the client or detect whether an event occurs, and when a response signal to the SUBSCRIBE message is received, transmits a NOTIFY message including information on event update of the requesting of the SUBSCRIBE message to the client requesting to establish the session.

24. A system for splitting terminals according to an attribute of media of a push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) network to transmit the media, the system comprising:

a terminal split-off requesting PoC client for receiving the media and transmitting a message including information for receiving through another terminal, a media part that is separated by attribute from the received media;

at least one terminating PoC client for providing a function corresponding to the media attribute and receiving the media part separated by attribute from the media received by the terminal split-off requesting PoC client; and

a session management server for receiving the message including information for receiving, through another terminal, a media part that is separated by attribute from the received media, and transmitting an INVITE message to the terminating PoC client, the INVITE message for transmitting the media part separated by attribute from the media received by the terminal split-off requesting PoC client.

25. The system according to claim 24, wherein the message including the information for receiving the part of the media from a PoC user terminal through the other terminal uses a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) REFER message.

26. The system according to claim 25, wherein the SIP REFER message comprises dialogue information of the session that is presently used.

27. A terminal for splitting terminals according to an attribute of media of a push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) network to establish a session, comprising:

means for setting information used for splitting the terminals according to the media attribute for the session management server to which the terminal belongs, to split the terminals according to the media attribute to receive the media.

28. The terminal according to claim 27, wherein the information used for splitting the terminals according to the media attribute uses a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) PUBLISH message.

29. The terminal according to claim 28, wherein the SIP PUBLISH message has a format including an Event header for splitting the terminals according to each media attribute and including a type of the terminal to be invited to the session according to each media attribute, address information on the corresponding terminal, and information on media support capability of the terminal.

30. A session management server for splitting terminals according to an attribute of media of a push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) network to establish a session, comprising:

means for storing information used for splitting the terminal is stored according to the media attribute, in order to split terminating side terminals according to the media attribute to transmit the media;

mans for extracting a type of the media from media information included in the INVITE message transmitted from originating PoC clients; and

means for comparing the extracted information with information on the media set for each terminal, combining routing information, splitting the received INVITE messages for the multimedia session to each corresponding media-specific routing address, and transmitting the split INVITE messages to each terminal.

31. The session management server according to claim 30, further comprising means for performing a forking function for splitting and inviting the terminals according to each media attribute.

32. A terminal for splitting terminals according to an attribute of media of a push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) network to transmit the media, comprising:

means for receiving the media, and transmitting a message including information for receiving a part of the received media, in order to split the terminating side terminals according to the media attribute to receive the media.

33. The terminal according to claim 32, wherein the message including the information for receiving the part of the media from a PoC user terminal through a second terminal uses a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) REFER message.

34. The terminal according to claim 33, wherein the SIP REFER message comprises dialogue information of the session that is presently used.

35. A session management server for splitting terminals according to an attribute of media of a push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) network to transmit the media, comprising:

means for receiving the media, receiving a message including information for receiving a part of the received media from an arbitrary PoC client terminal through a second terminal, and transmitting an INVITE message to the arbitrary PoC client terminal for receiving the media, in order to split the terminating side terminals according to the media attribute to receive the media.

36. The session management server according to claim 35, wherein the message including the information for receiving the part of the media from the PoC user terminal through the second terminal uses a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) REFER message.

37. The session management server according to claim 36, wherein the SIP REFER message comprises dialogue information of the session that is presently used.
