Method and apparatus for providing a passageway
First Claim
1. An apparatus for use with a passageway in a surgical procedure, comprising:
- a reference structure;
a first guide member connected to the reference structure and adapted to be arranged in a first position relative to the reference structure, the first guide member having distal and proximal ends and a first passage leading to the distal end; and
a second guide member connected to the reference structure and adapted to be arranged in a second position relative to the reference structure, the second guide member having distal and proximal ends and a second passage leading to the distal end;
wherein the first and second guide members are arranged so that when in the first and second positions, respectively, the first and second passages are adjacent at distal ends of the first and second guide members.

Abstract
An apparatus for use with a passageway in a surgical procedure includes a reference structure, and first and second guide members. The first and second guide members may be arranged in a first and second positions relative to the reference structure so that passages in the guide members are adjacent, e.g., the distal ends of the guide members may be adjacent each other. This arrangement may allow for the first and second guide members to be used in forming a passageway in a body part, such as a portion of bone, and/or may provide a passageway for passing a suture or suture-like material from the first guide member to the second guide member.

21. An apparatus for use with a passageway through bone in a surgical procedure, the apparatus comprising:
-
a connecting member;
first and second sleeves, each including a bore and an engagement surface and being attached to the connecting member; and
first and second guide members, each including a stop and proximal and distal ends, the distal ends including a threaded portion adapted to allow the distal ends to be screwed into bone;
wherein the first and second guide members are receivable in the bore of the first and second sleeves, respectively, so that the stops engage a respective engagement surface and position the distal ends adjacent each other. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29)
