Abstract

Provided is a single repository for capturing, connecting, sharing, and visualizing information based on a geographic location, for example. Provided is a schema, repository, index, and APIs for any information, place, entity, attribute, service or person that can be referenced geographically. A system to provide real time image data includes an input component that receives image data associated with a specific geographic area, a splitter component that splits the image data into at least two quadrants, and a storage component that stores at least a portion of the at least two quadrants. Also provides is on-line or real-time advertising based on a user'"'"'s mapped location and/or a user preference.

Claims

1. A system that facilitates on-line advertising, comprising:

a coverage component that receives information relating to advertisement coverage desired by advertisers for a particular geographic location;

a content provisioning component that provides a plurality of image information sources relating to the particular geographic location; and

an association component that associates an advertiser with at least one of the image information sources in connection with the advertiser employing image information from the associated source and compensates the associated source for use of the image information.

2. The system of claim 1, the coverage component further creates a layer for the desired geography.

3. The system of claim 1, the coverage component rates the plurality of advertisers according to a predetermined rating scale.

4. The system of claim 1, the association component monitors a user activity and tailors the displayed advertisement based on the physical location of the user.

5. The system of claim 4, the advertisement is different depending on whether the user is physically present in the geographic area or is remotely viewing the area.

6. The system of claim 1, the content provisioning component further determines an association diluting to apply to each of the plurality of users.

7. The system of claim 6, association diluting occurs when a user zooms into the map or geographic area, or when a user is physically present in an area

8. The system of claim 1, the advertisement displayed is automatically refreshed as the user moves in the geographic area.

9. The system of claim 1, the advertisement displayed expires when the user is no longer in the geographic area.

10. A method for providing real-time advertising data, comprising:

receiving user location information;

choosing an advertisement based at least in part on the user location information; and

outputting the advertisement to the user.

11. The method of claim 10, choosing the advertisement further comprises:

receiving a user preference; and

tailoring the advertisement to the user preference.

12. The method of claim 10, choosing the advertisement further comprises:

receiving from a plurality of advertisers a request to advertise in a particular geographic area;

determining which advertiser has priority in the particular geographic area; and

outputting the advertisement of the advertiser with priority if it matches the user location information.

13. The method of claim 10, outputting the advertisement, further comprising:

discriminating between a remote user and a user physically present in the geographic area; and

displaying a different advertisement depending on whether the user is remote or physically present.

16. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

monitoring the user location information;

changing the advertisement output to the user as the user location information changes; and

dynamically refreshing a display with the changed advertisement output.

17. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

automatically removing the advertisement if the user location information indicates the user is no longer in the location.

14. The method of 10 determining which advertiser has priority in the particular geographic area, further comprising:

determining a coverage area; and

ranking an advertiser based at least in part on the coverage area.

15. The method of claim 14, ranking an advertiser based at least in part on the coverage area, further comprising:

applying an association diluting based on a location of the user.

18. An on-line advertising system, comprising:

means for receiving a coverage area for respective advertisements for a plurality of advertisers;

means for ranking the plurality of advertisers utilizing geo-diluting; and

means for outputting at least one of the advertisements based at least in part on a user location and the geo-diluted ranking.

19. The system of claim 18, further comprising:

means for monitoring the location of the user; and

means for dynamically updated the output advertisement based on the monitored user location.

20. The system of claim 18, further comprising:

means for receiving a user preference; and

means for tailoring the advertisement based at least in part on the user preference.
