Data-driven traffic views with keyroute status
First Claim
1. A computer-implemented method of displaying on a graphical map traffic flow data representing traffic conditions on a road system, the graphical map including one or more keyroutes, each keyroute being defined by one or more contiguous road segments, the method comprising:
- (a) creating a graphical map of the road system including the one or more keyroutes;
(b) determining congestion status of the one or more keyroutes on the graphical map, the congestion status corresponding to traffic flow data associated with the one or more segments of each respective keyroute, wherein the congestion status is defined by partitioning the keyroute into one or more congestion segments, each congestion segment being defined in terms of a percentage range of the keyroute from the start of the keyroute, each congestion segment having a congestion status; and
(c) displaying on the graphical map of the road system traffic flow data showing the congestion status of the one or more keyroutes.

Abstract
A computer-implemented method is provided for displaying on a graphical map traffic flow data representing traffic conditions on a road system. The graphical map includes one or more keyroutes, each keyroute being defined by one or more contiguous road segments. Congestion status of the one or more keyroutes are displayed on the graphical map. The congestion status is defined by partitioning the keyroute into one or more congestion segments, each congestion segment being defined in terms of a percentage range of the keyroute from the start of the keyroute. Each congestion segment has a congestion status. Also, a plurality of identification objects are shown at fixed positions in the graphical map and a plurality of different views of the graphical map are defined. Each identification object is coded to be either displayed or not displayed for each of the different views. Also, for a selected keyroute, a single display screen displays keyroute identifying information, and the real-time status of the keyroute, wherein the status is continuously updated on the single display screen.

4. A computer-implemented method of displaying traffic flow data on a graphical map of a road system, the graphical map including one or more segments, the traffic flow data representing traffic conditions on a road system, the method comprising:
-
(a) defining a plurality of identification objects to be shown at fixed positions in the graphical map and defining a plurality of different views of the graphical map, each identification object being coded to be either displayed or not displayed for each of the different views;
(b) determining a status of each segment on the graphical map, the status corresponding to the traffic flow data associated with that segment;
(c) selecting a view of the graphical map, the selected view determining which identification objects will appear in the graphical map;
(d) creating an animated traffic flow map of the road system by combining (i) the graphical map having the corresponding identification objects, and (ii) the status of each segment. - View Dependent Claims (5, 6, 7, 8)
