Abstract

A method and system for generating common trace files for multiple components. In one embodiment, separate trace information is received from multiple components. The separate trace information received from multiple components is integrated into a single common trace file to provide common trace information for multiple components.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving a first trace information relating to a first component of a first group;

receiving a second trace information relating to a second component of the first group; and

integrating the first trace information and the second trace information relating a first and second components of the first group into a first common trace file having first common trace information.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a first trace information relating to a first component of a second group;

receiving a second trace information relating a second component of a second group; and

integrating the first trace information and the second trace information relating to a first and second components of the second group into a second common trace file having second common trace information.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

tracking the first and second trace information relating to the first and second components of the first group; and

tracking the first and second trace information relating to the first and second components of the second group.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising filtering first contents of the first common trace file using a predetermined filter criteria based on one or more of the following:

component priority, trace errors, error patterns, and severity levels.

5. The method of claim 2, further comprising filtering second contents of the second common trace file using the predetermined filter criteria based on one or more of the following:

the component priority, the trace errors, the error patterns, and the severity levels.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising sorting the first and second contents of the first and second common trace files, respectively, using a predetermined sort criteria based on one or more of the following:

the component priority, the trace errors, the error patterns, and the severity levels.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the first and second components of the first group and the second group comprise one or more of the following:

virtual machines, worker nodes, work processes.

8. A system comprising:

a first trace controller associated with a first group of components, the first trace controller to receive a first trace information from a first component of the first group, and receive a second trace information from a second component of the first group; and

a common trace module in communication with the first trace controller, the common trace module to generate a first common trace file having the first trace information and the second trace information relating to the first and second components of the first group of components.

9. The system of claim 8, further comprising:

a second trace controller associated with a second group of components, the second trace controller to receive a first trace information from a first component of the second group, and receive a second trace information from a second component of the second group; and

the common trace module in communication with the second trace controller, the common trace module to generate a second common trace file having the first trace information and the second trace information relating to the first and second components of the second group of components.

10. The system of claim 8, further comprising a trace manager in communication with the first trace controller, the second trace controller, and the common trace module, the trace manager to manage the generating of the first common trace file and the second common trace file.

11. The system of claim 8, further comprising a filter in communication with the common trace module, the filter to filter out unnecessary information from first and second common trace files using a predetermined filter criteria, wherein the predetermined filter criteria is based on one or more of the following:

component identity, trace errors, trace patterns, and severity levels.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the filter is further to sort contents of the first and second common trace files using a predetermined sort criteria, wherein the predetermined sort criteria is based on one or more of the following:

the component identity, the trace errors, the trace patterns, and the severity levels.

13. The system of claim 8, wherein the first and second components of the first group comprise one or more of the following:

virtual machines, worker nodes, work processes.

14. The system of claim 9, wherein the first and second components of the second group comprise one or more of the following:

virtual machines, worker nodes, work processes.

15. A machine-readable medium having stored thereon data comprising sets of instructions which, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to:

receive a first trace information relating to a first component of a first group;

receive a second trace information relating to a second component of the first group; and

integrate the first trace information and the second trace information relating a first and second components of the first group into a first common trace file having first common trace information.

16. The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the sets of instructions which, when executed by the machine, further cause the machine to:

receive a first trace information relating to a first component of a second group;

receive a second trace information relating a second component of a second group; and

integrate the first trace information and the second trace information relating to a first and second components of the second group into a second common trace file having second common trace information.

17. The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the sets of instructions which, when executed by the machine, further cause the machine to:

track the first and second trace information relating to the first and second components of the first group; and

track the first and second trace information relating to the first and second components of the second group.

18. The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the sets of instructions which, when executed by the machine, further cause the machine to filter first contents of the first common trace file using a predetermined filter criteria based on one or more of the following:

component priority, trace errors, error patterns, and severity levels.

19. The machine-readable medium of claim 16, wherein the sets of instructions which, when executed by the machine, further cause the machine to filter second contents of the second common trace file using the predetermined filter criteria based on one or more of the following:

the component priority, the trace errors, the error patterns, and the severity levels.

20. The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the sets of instructions which, when executed by the machine, further cause the machine to sort the first and second contents of the first and second common trace files, respectively, using a predetermined sort criteria based on one or more of the following:

the component priority, the trace errors, the error patterns, and the severity levels.
