1. A medical delivery device, comprising:
- an elongate inner compression member having a proximal end and a distal mating end, a first portion located proximally at or near the distal mating end and comprising a first cross sectional area, and the distal mating end comprising an outer engaging surface, a tapered portion, and a second portion, the tapered portion comprising a second cross sectional area smaller than the first cross sectional area and tapering distally to the second portion comprising a second portion cross sectional area smaller than the first and second cross sectional areas;
an inner guide channel member having a first end and a second end and defining a channel therebetween; and
an internal joint operatively coupling the inner compression member distal mating end and the inner guide channel member second end.

The devices have an elongate inner compression member having a proximal end and a distal mating end with a tapered portion and outer engaging surface, a first portion proximal to the distal mating end, and the tapered portion having a smaller cross sectional area than the first portion and being more flexible than the first portion. The devices further have an inner guide channel member with a first end and a second end defining a channel of substantially uniform inner diameter, the second end having an outer diameter, and the first end having a taper extending from the second end outer diameter to a smaller second outer diameter. A joint is configured for melt bonding or implanting the inner compression member distal mating end and the inner guide channel member second end.

20. A delivery apparatus for the rapid insertion of medical devices, comprising:

an elongate longitudinal flexible middle section extending intermediate a system proximal end and a system distal end, the middle section having an outer sheath containing a passageway;
an elongate compression member extending through the outer sheath passageway and to the system distal end, the inner compression member having a proximal end and a distal mating end comprising a tapered portion;
an inner guide channel member arranged at the system distal end, the inner guide channel member comprising a first end having an entry port and a second end having an exit port and defining a channel therebetween, the second end having an inner surface and an outer surface, an outer diameter at or near the second end, and a taper intermediate the first and second ends;
an internal joint operatively coupling the inner compression member distal mating end and the inner guide channel member second end;
an outer guide channel member axially slideably coupled to the inner guide channel member, the outer guide channel member comprising a distal first end having an entry port and a proximal second end having an exit port and defining a guide channel therebetween, the outer guide channel member configured to have a stepped profile comprising a first outer diameter intermediate the distal first end and the proximal second end and a second smaller outer diameter located at or near the proximal second end;
a self-expanding deployment device mounting region disposed at the system distal end within the outer guide channel member, the mounting region including a proximal restraint, an inner guide channel member outside surface, and an outer guide channel member inner surface; and
a transition region arranged at the system distal end and being proximal to the self-expanding deployment device mounting region, wherein the inner guide channel member exit port is in communication with the outer guide channel member exit port, the inner guide channel member exit port further having a breech position opening located proximal to the inner guide channel member exit port. - View Dependent Claims (21, 22, 23, 24)
