Abstract

A light-emitting diode (LED) component includes a circuit board, an LED chip installed on the circuit board for emitting light, and a light direction-changing unit. The LED chip is composed of a plurality of light-emitting points. The unit has a covering surface covering the LED chip, and a reflecting surface having a plurality of reflecting points. A smallest included angle of a plurality of included angles between a normal line of at least one of the reflecting points and a plurality of connection lines passing through the reflecting point and the light-emitting points is larger than sin−1(1/n), where n is the reflection index of the light direction-changing unit.

Claims

1. A light-emitting diode (LED) component comprising:

a circuit board;

an LED chip installed on the circuit board for emitting light, the LED chip comprising a plurality of light-emitting points; and

a light direction-changing unit for changing direction of the light emitted by the LED chip, the light direction-changing unit comprising;

a covering surface for covering the LED chip; and

a reflecting surface comprising a plurality of reflecting points, a smallest included angle of a plurality of included angles between a normal line of at least one of the reflecting points and a plurality of connection lines passing through the reflecting point and the light-emitting points being larger than sin<sup>−

1</sup>(1/n), where n is a reflection index of the light direction-changing unit.

2. The LED component of claim 1, wherein the light direction-changing unit comprises gel material.

3. The LED component of claim 2, wherein the light direction-changing unit comprises epoxy resin.

4. The LED component of claim 1, wherein the reflecting surface of the light direction-changing unit comprises a V-shaped planar reflecting surface.

5. The LED component of claim 4, wherein the reflecting surface of the light direction-changing unit further comprises a pair of upright surfaces installed on two sides of the V-shaped planar reflecting surface, the upright surfaces together with the V-shaped planar reflecting surface forming an indentation.

6. The LED component of claim 1, wherein the reflecting surface of the light direction-changing unit comprises a V-shaped curved reflecting surface.

The LED component of claim 6, wherein the reflecting surface of the light direction-changing unit further comprises a pair of upright surfaces installed on two sides of the V-shaped curved reflecting surface, the upright surfaces together with the V-shaped curved reflecting surface forming an indentation.

8. The LED component of claim 1, wherein the reflecting surface of the light direction-changing unit comprises a conical indentation reflecting surface.

9. The LED component of claim 8, wherein the conical indentation reflecting surface of the light direction-changing unit is a curved surface formed by a right triangle spinning around its right-angled edge.

10. The LED component of claim 8, wherein the conical indentation reflecting surface of the light direction-changing unit is a curved surface formed by an arc line spinning around its tangent line.

11. The LED component of claim 1, wherein the light direction-changing unit further comprises a reflecting layer installed on the reflecting surface for reflecting light emitted by the LED chip except for the light reflected by the reflecting surface.

12. The LED component of claim 11, wherein the reflecting layer is installed on the reflecting surface through a pasting process.

13. The LED component of claim 11, wherein the reflecting layer is a planted layer formed on the reflecting surface.

14. A light direction-changing module for covering an LED component array installed on a circuit board, the LED component array comprising a plurality of LED chips for emitting light, each of the LED chips comprising a plurality of light-emitting points, the light direction-changing module comprising a plurality of light direction-changing units corresponding to the LED chips respectively, each of the light direction-changing unit comprising:

a covering surface for covering the LED chip; and

a reflecting surface comprising a plurality of reflecting points, a smallest included angle of a plurality of included angles between a normal line of at least one of the reflecting points and a plurality of connection lines passing through the reflecting point and the light-emitting points being larger than sin<sup>−

1</sup>(1/n), where n is a reflection index of the light direction-changing unit.

15. The light direction-changing module of claim 14, wherein one of the light direction-changing units comprises a reflecting layer installed on the reflecting surface for reflecting light emitted by the LED chip except for the light reflected by the reflecting surface.

16. The light direction-changing module of claim 14, wherein two of the light direction-changing units are connected.

17. A light direction-changing unit for covering an LED chip, the LED chip being installed on a circuit board for emitting light and comprising a plurality of light-emitting points, the light direction-changing unit comprising:

a covering surface for covering the LED chip; and

a reflecting surface comprising a plurality of reflecting points, a smallest included angle of a plurality of included angles between a normal line of at least one of the reflecting points and a plurality of connection lines passing through the reflecting point and the light-emitting points being larger than sin<sup>−

1</sup>(1/n), where n is a reflection index of the light direction-changing unit.
