Abstract

An automated provider of predesigned mechanical motion to self powered cell phones is disclosed which avoids the need for users thereof to perform manual manipulations of the phones for power restorative purposes. An optimized kinetic generator of electrical currents for such phones is also disclosed based upon use of a linear wire coil-wrapped tubular raceway through which a permanent magnetic member moves in substantially perpendicular orientation of its magnetic flux relative to the wire coils.

Claims

1. An automated motion provider for self powered cell phone which comprises:

means for securing a self powered cell phone to a mechanical support;

means for activating the support into predesigned motion which imparts power restorative physical motion to the cell phone when secured to said support; and

means for maintaining the predesigned motion of the support for controlled time periods, thereby causing the cell phone to self generate electrical currents and restore its operating power during such time periods.

2. A motion provider according to claim 1 wherein the securing means comprises a cradle adapted to receive and hold the self powered cell phone in a predetermined position.

3. A motion provider according to claim 2 wherein the cradle includes an opening which is oriented in a vertically upward direction.

4. A motion provider according to claim 3 wherein the self powered cell phone is received and held on one of its sides in the cradle such that a plane through the cell phone'"'"'s thickness is oriented in a vertical direction.

A motion provider according to claim 1 wherein the activating means comprises a rotatable drive wheel, a lever arm pivotably connected at one end to the periphery of the drive wheel and at the other end retractably positioned for reciprocal retractable and extendible motion within a channel of a hub member linked to the cradle, whereby rotation of the drive wheel is translated into reciprocal motion of the lever arm within the channel and resultant rocking motion of the support and cell phone.

A motion provider according to claim 5 wherein the hub member includes an extension linearly aligned with and extending away from the lever arm, the terminal end of the extension being connected to one end of a compression spring, the other end of the spring being attached to a housing of the activating means.

7. A motion provider according to claim 5 wherein the activating means is driven solely by mechanical energy.

8. A motion provider according to claim 7 wherein the mechanical energy is derived from a wound up mainspring of a mechanical clock movement.

9. A motion provider according to claim 7 wherein the maintaining means includes a clutch member which can be manually engaged or released to stop or permit rotation of the drive for selected time periods.

10. A self powered cell phone comprising:

a hollow tubular member wrapped with coils of conductive wire;

a permanent magnetic member sealed and movable within the tubular member to generate variable electrical currents;

means for storing the electrical currents; and

means for providing the stored currents to the operating circuit of the self powered cell phone.

11. A self powered cell phone according to claim 10 wherein the magnetic member is configured in the shape of a ball.

12. A self powered cell phone according to claim 10 wherein the magnetic member is configured in the shape of a cylinder.

13. A self powered cell phone according to claim 10 which includes means for rectifying the electrical currents.

14. A self powered cell phone according to claim 10 wherein the storing means comprises rechargeable batteries contained within the cell phone.

15. A self powered cell phone according to claim 10 wherein the tubular member is configured in the shape of a straight tube.

16. A self powered cell phone according to claim 10 wherein the tubular member is configured in the shape of a circular loop.

17. A method of automatically restoring operating power to self powered cell phones which comprise:

securing a self powered cell phone to a mechanical support;

activating the support into predesigned motion which imparts power restorative motion to the cell phone; and

maintaining the predesigned motion of the support for controlled time periods;

thereby causing the cell phone to self generate electrical currents and restore its operating power during such time periods.

18. A method according to claim 17 which comprises securing the cell phone in a predetermined position in the mechanical support.

19. A method according to claim 18 which comprises securing the cell phone on one of its sides in the support so that a plane through its thickness is oriented vertically upward.

20. A method according to claim 17 which comprises activating and maintaining the predesigned motion of the support through the use of mechanical energy.

21. A method according to claim 20 which comprises deriving the mechanical energy from the wound mainspring of a mechanical clock movement.

22. A method according to claim 17 which comprises activating and maintaining the predesigned motion of the support through the use of electrical energy.

23. A method according to claim 22 wherein the electrical energy is sourced from an AC power cord, an AC adaptor or a battery and used to operate an electric motor.

24. An automated motion provider for self powered cell phones which comprises:

means for securing a self powered cell phone to a mechanical support;

means for activating the support into predesigned motion which imparts power restorative physical motion to the cell phone when secured to said support;

means for maintaining the predesigned motion of the support for controlled time periods, thereby causing the cell phone to self generate electrical currents and restore its operating power during such time periods; and

said means for activating and maintaining the predesigned motion enabling the use of solely mechanical energy and at least one source of electrical energy comprising an AC adaptor, an AC power cord or a battery.

25. An automated motion provider according to claim 24 wherein said means for activating and maintaining the predesigned motion enables the use of solely electrical energy sourced from at least one of an AC adaptor, an AC power cord or a battery.
