Abstract

A job searching and matching system and method is disclosed that gathers job seeker information in the form of job seeker parameters from one or more job seekers, gathers job information in the form of job parameters from prospective employers and/or recruiters, correlates the information with past job seeker behavior, parameters and behavior from other job seekers, and job parameters and, in response to a job seeker'"'"'s query, provides matching job results based on common parameters between the job seeker and jobs along with suggested alternative jobs based on the co-relationships. In addition, the system correlates employer/recruiter behavior information with past employer/recruiter behavior, parameters and information concerning other job seekers, which are candidates to the employer, and resume parameters, and, in response to a Employer'"'"'s query, provides matching job seeker results based on common parameters between the job seeker resumes and jobs along with suggested alternative job seeker candidates based on the identified co-relationships.

Claims

1. A system for matching a job seeker with a job comprising:

a job seeker profile builder module in communication with a database comprising data related to a plurality of job seekers, a plurality of employer/recruiters and/or a plurality of jobs, the job seeker profile builder module generating job seeker profile parameters in response to job seeker input;

a job profile builder module in communication with the database and operable to generate job profile parameters in response to employer/recruiter input;

a matching module for matching the job seeker to a potential job through finding one or more common parameters between job seeker parameters and job profile parameters and producing matching result; and

a correlation module in communication with the matching module determining a correlation between one of the common parameters and one or more selected parameters related to one or more of the job seeker, other job seekers of the plurality and other jobs of the plurality, and determining a relevance of the correlation to the matching result.

2. The system according to claim 1 wherein the matching module determines a matching score for each of the common parameters between the job seeker and the job.

3. The system according to claim 2 wherein the alternative jobs are determined with the correlation module.

4. The system according to claim 3 wherein the correlation module determines a score for each alternative job based on the relevance of the correlation to the matching results.

5. The system according to claim 3 wherein the matching module determines a total matching score S as the sum of at least LW*L+IW*I+FW*F+TW*T, where:

LW is a weight given to a location factor and L is a matching score for the location,

IW is a weight given to an industry factor, and I is a matching score for the industry,

FW is a weight given to a job function factor, and F is a matching score for the job function, and

TW is a weight given to a title factor, and T is a matching score for the title.

6. The system according to claim 5 wherein the total matching score further comprises the product of SW*S where SW is a weight given to a past search factor and S is a past search matching score.

7. The system according to claim 5 wherein the total matching score further comprises the product of JW*J where JW is a weight given to an apply history and click through factors and J is an apply history and click through matching score.

8. The system according to claim 5 wherein the total matching score further comprises the product of AW*A where AW is a weight given to a resume/job description text matching factor and A is a matching score for the resume/job description text.

9. The system according to claim 1 wherein the correlation module includes an affinity engine determining one or more affinities between one or more of the job seeker parameters and at least one parameter associated with one or more of the other job seekers.

10. The system according to claim 9 wherein the matching module determines a matching score for each of the common parameters between the job seeker and the job.

11. A method for matching a job seeker with one or more of a plurality of jobs comprising:

building a job seeker profile of job seeker parameters in response to job seeker input;

building a job profile of job parameters in response to employer input for each of the plurality of jobs;

in response to a job seeker query, matching the job seeker to a potential job through finding one or more common parameters between job seeker parameters and job parameters and producing matching results;

tracking popularity of one or more selected job parameters in the matching results based on activity from other job seekers;

determining relevance of alternative jobs to the matching results based on the popularity; and

displaying the matching results and relevant alternative jobs for consideration by the job seeker.

12. The method according to claim 11 further comprising determining a matching score for each of the common parameters between the job seeker and the job.

13. The method according to claim 12 further comprising applying a weight factor to each parameter.

14. The system according to claim 13 wherein the weight factor is tunable.

15. The method according to claim 13 further comprising determining a total matching score S as the sum of at least LW*L+IW*I+FW*F+TW*T, where:

LW is a weight given to a location factor and L is a matching score for the location,

IW is a weight given to an industry factor, and I is a matching score for the industry,

FW is a weight given to a job function factor, and F is a matching score for the job function,

TW is a weight given to a title factor, and T is a matching score for the title.

16. The method according to claim 15 wherein the total matching score further comprises the product of SW*S where SW is a weight given to a past search factor and S is a past search matching score.

17. The method according to claim 14 wherein the total matching score further comprises the product of JW*J where JW is a weight given to an apply history and click through factors and J is an apply history and click through matching score.

18. The system according to claim 17 wherein the total matching score further comprises the product of AW*A where AW is a weight given to a resume/job description text matching factor and A is a matching score for the resume/job description text.

19. A method for matching job seekers to jobs comprising:

storing job seeker parameters in response to job seeker input by each job seeker;

storing job parameters in response to input by an employer/recruiter for each of one or more jobs;

in response to a query from one of the job seekers, finding one or more common parameters between the one job seeker'"'"'s parameters and the stored job parameters to produce matching results comprising matching jobs;

tracking correlation data related between one or more matching job parameters and other job seekers or prior actions by the one job seeker; and

determining relevance of alternative jobs to the matching jobs from the correlation data.

20. The method according to claim 19 further comprising determining a matching score for each of the common parameters between the one job seeker and the matching job.

21. The method according to claim 19 further comprising applying a weight factor to each parameter.

22. The method according to claim 20 wherein the weight factor is tunable.

23. The method according to claim 21 further comprising determining a total matching score S as the sum of at least LW*L+IW*I+FW*F+TW*T, where:

LW is a weight given to a location factor and L is a matching score for the location,

IW is a weight given to an industry factor, and I is a matching score for the industry,

FW is a weight given to a job function factor, and F is a matching score for the job function,

TW is a weight given to a title factor, and T is a matching score for the title.

25. The method according to claim 23 wherein the total matching score further comprises the product of JW*J where JW is a weight given to an apply history and click through factors and J is an apply history and click through matching score.

26. The method according to claim 23 wherein the total matching score further comprises the product of AW*A where AW is a weight given to a resume/job description text matching factor and A is a matching score for the resume/job description text.

24. The method according to claim 33 wherein the total matching score further comprises the product of SW*S where SW is a weight given to a past search factor and S is a past search matching score.

27. A system for matching job seekers to jobs comprising:

means for storing job seeker parameters in response to job seeker input by each job seeker;

means for storing job parameters in response to input by an employer/recruiter for each of one or more jobs;

means for, in response to a query from one of the job seekers, finding one or more common parameters between the one job seeker'"'"'s parameters and the stored job parameters to produce matching results comprising matching jobs;

means for tracking correlation data related between one or more matching job parameters and other job seekers or prior actions by the one job seeker, means for determining relevance of alternative jobs to the matching jobs from the correlation data; and

means for displaying the matching results and the alternative jobs for consideration by the one job seeker.

28. The system according to claim 27 further comprising a module for determining a matching score for each of the common parameters between the one job seeker and the matching job.
