Abstract

A job searching and matching system and method is disclosed that gathers job seeker information in the form of job seeker parameters from one or more job seekers, gathers job information in the form of job parameters from prospective employers and/or recruiters, correlates the information with past job seeker behavior, parameters and behavior from other job seekers, and job parameters and, in response to a job seeker'"'"'s query, provides matching job results based on common parameters between the job seeker and jobs along with suggested alternative jobs based on the co-relationships and based on ratings and preferences provided by the job seeker and provides negative filtration of undesirable jobs based on job seeker input and in response to queries from the system in order to efficiently and accurately accommodate job seeker perception. In addition, the system correlates employer/recruiter behavior information with past employer/recruiter behavior, parameters and information concerning other job seekers, which are candidates to the employer, and resume parameters, and, in response to a Employer'"'"'s query, provides matching job seeker results based on common parameters between the job seeker resumes and jobs along with suggested alternative job seeker candidates based on the identified co-relationships and specifies job seekers to be eliminated from displayed results.

Claims

1. A system for matching a job seeker with a potential job comprising:

a database comprising data related to a plurality of job seekers and/or a plurality of jobs;

a matching module in communication with the database, the matching module producing matching results by matching one of the job seekers to a potential job through finding one or more common parameters between job seeker parameters from the one job seeker and one or more job parameters; and

a correlation module in communication with the matching module, the correlation module determining a correlation between one of the common parameters and one or more jobs of the plurality of jobs, wherein the correlation module includes a filtration module responsive to job seeker input to not provide for display a job similar to one or more of the plurality of jobs in at least one of the potential job recommendations provided in the matching results.

2. The system according to claim 1 wherein the correlation module has an affinity engine operable to determine alternative jobs to the matching results based on jobs applied for by the plurality of job seekers.

3. The system according to claim 1 wherein the matching module determines a matching score for each of the common parameters between the job seeker and the one or more jobs.

4. The system according to claim 1 wherein the filtration module queries the job seeker for at least one reason for not providing for display the job similar to one or more of the plurality of jobs.

5. The system according to claim 4 wherein the correlation module considers the at least one reason in determining subsequent matching suggestion jobs.

6. The system according to claim 3 wherein suggestion jobs made available of download and display to the job seeker are ranked according to the matching scores.

7. A method for matching a job seeker with one or more of a plurality of potential jobs comprising:

building a job seeker profile of job seeker parameters in response to job seeker input;

in response to a job seeker query, producing matching results by matching the job seeker to one or more potential jobs through finding one or more common parameters between job seeker parameters and job description parameters;

determining alternative jobs to the matching results based on an affinity between the one or more potential jobs identified in the matching results and other job seekers interest in the one or more potential jobs and based on the evaluative rating provided by the job seeker;

providing the matching results and the alternative jobs for consideration by the job seeker; and

querying the job seeker whether or not to filter one of the potential jobs from subsequent matching results.

8. The method according to claim 7 further comprising determining a matching score for each of the common parameters between the job seeker and the identified potential jobs.

9. The method according to claim 7 further comprising determining an affinity relevance value for each alternative job based on a popularity of the alternative job.

10. The method according to claim 9 further comprising ranking the alternative jobs according to the affinity relevance value.

11. The method according to claim 7 further comprising:

if the job seeker responds to the query by asking not to display the one of the potential jobs, then removing the one potential job from subsequent matching results.

12. The method according to claim 11 further comprising removing the one potential job from the affinity determining operation.

13. The method according to claim 12 wherein if the job seeker asks not to display one or more of the potential jobs, querying the job seeker for a reason selected from a plurality of predetermined negative reasons.

14. The method according to claim 13 further comprising applying the reason to remove similar potential jobs from recommendations in the determining operation.

15. A method for matching job seekers to jobs comprising:

storing one or more job seeker parameters in response to job seeker input by each of a plurality of job seekers;

storing job parameters in response to input by an employer/recruiter for each of one or more jobs;

in response to a query from one of the job seekers, finding one or more common parameters between the one job seeker'"'"'s parameters and the stored job parameters to produce matching job results;

correlating one or more matching job parameters in the matching job results with other jobs based on stored other job seeker parameters;

determining and displaying alternative jobs to the matching jobs from the correlation data;

if the job seeker requests removal of one or more suggested alternative jobs, then querying the job seeker for a reason for removal from a set of predetermined reasons;

receiving the reason; and

correlating the removal request to provide a new set of alternative job recommendations for download to the one job seeker.

16. The method according to claim 15 further comprising transmitting the alternative jobs for display to the one job seeker.

17. The method according to claim 15 further comprising repeating the storing, finding, correlating, determining and querying operations if the one job seeker applies for one of the displayed alternative jobs.

18. The method according to claim 15 wherein the other job seeker parameters include jobs that the other job seekers applied for.

19. A system for matching job seekers to jobs comprising:

means for storing job seeker parameters in response to job seeker input by each of a plurality of job seekers;

means for storing job parameters in response to input by an employer/recruiter for each of one or more jobs;

means for, in response to a query from one of the job seekers, finding one or more common parameters between the one job seeker'"'"'s parameters and the stored job parameters to produce matching results comprising matching jobs;

means for correlating between one or more matching job parameters and the stored job seeker parameters of one or more of the other job seekers to produce alternative jobs;

means for querying the one job seeker on a display of matching and alternative jobs whether to remove at least one of the matching jobs or alternative jobs; and

means for updating the matching results and the alternative jobs for consideration by the one job seeker.

20. The system according to claim 19 further comprising means for determining a relevance value of the alternative jobs to the matching jobs.

21. The system according to claim 19 wherein the means for correlating comprises an affinity module that determines affinities based on jobs applied for data for each of the plurality of job seekers.

22. A system for matching job seekers with potential jobs comprising:

a database;

a matching module connected to the database and to a web server accessible to a job seeker;

a correlation module communicating with the matching module and the database, the correlation module comprising;

a user activity monitor module tracking job seeker activity within the system for matching job seekers with potential jobs;

an affinity module operable to determine activity with respect to jobs presented to other job seekers; and

a filtration module operably coupled to the affinity module and user activity monitor module receiving preferences from a job seeker to refine correlations made by the matching module and correlation module for consideration by the job seeker.

23. The system according to claim 22 wherein the filtration module presents to the job seeker an option to select a matching job to be eliminated from subsequent display to the job seeker.

24. The system according to claim 22 wherein the filtration module communicates with the user activity monitor module to ensure subsequent matching results do not include a matching job selected by the job seeker for elimination.

25. The system according to claim 23 wherein the filtration module queries the job seeker for one or more reasons for elimination upon selection by the job seeker of a matching job to be eliminated.

26. The system according to claim 25 wherein the one or more reasons are selected from a predetermined set of reasons displayed to the job seeker for selection.
