1. A mobile video surveillance system, comprising:
- a source of a video signal, said source carried by a mobile vehicle;
a video signal compression system carried by said mobile vehicle and electrically connected to said source and providing a compressed video signal;
a plurality of digital storage media carried by said mobile vehicle, said plurality of digital storage media selected from the group consisting of;
a digital tape, a hard disk, a semiconductor memory, a CVD, a DVD, and an optical disk; and
a digital recording system carried by said mobile vehicle and communicating with said compression system for writing said compressed video signal to said plurality of digital storage media.

10. A method of mobile video surveillance, said method comprising:
-
providing on a mobile vehicle a video source producing a video signal;
compressing said video signal at said mobile vehicle to form a stream of compressed video data; and
recording said stream of compressed video data to a first recording medium and to a second recording medium on said mobile vehicle;
wherein said first recording medium is a different type of recording medium than said second recording medium. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17)
