Abstract

Agile Radio Frequency (RF) band selectable systems and circuits process and provide selection of baseband filtered Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) modulated signals, of spread spectrum (SS) modulated signals and of baseband in-phase (I) and quadrature-phase (Q) shaped and or filtered baseband cross-correlated and modulated signals. A selector selects one or more of the filtered and or shaped RF modulated signals and provides the selected signal to the transmission medium. RF tunable (RF agile) circuits receive a first baseband filtered and modulated signal at a first bit rate and provide a first RF modulated signal in a first specified RF band and receive a second baseband waveform shaped and modulated signal at a second bit rate and provide waveform shaped and modulated RF signal in a second specified RF band, with the second specified RF band having a different specified RF band than the first specified RF band and the first bit rate being different than the second bit rate. A selector selects one of the RF modulated signals and provides the selected signal to the transmission medium.

Claims

1. An agile Radio Frequency (RF) band selectable system comprising:

an agile radio frequency(RF) circuit for receiving a first baseband filtered and modulated signal at a first bit rate and for providing a first RF modulated signal in a first specified RF band and for receiving a second baseband waveform shaped and modulated signal at a second bit rate and for providing said waveform shaped and modulated RF signal in a second specified RF band, said second specified RF band having a different specified RF band than the first specified RF band and said first bit rate being different than said second bit rate; and

a selector for selecting one of the said RF modulated signals and providing the selected signal to the transmission medium.

6. The system as in claim 1 wherein the filtered and modulated signal is a modulated signal, obtained by processing and modulation of cross-correlated in-phase and quadrature-phase baseband signals.

7. The system as in claim 1 wherein the said filtered and modulated signal is a Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK) modulated signal.

8. The system as in claim 1 wherein the said filtered and modulated signal is a Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) modulated signal.

2. A Radio Frequency (RF) band selectable system comprising:

a tunable radio frequency(RF) circuit for receiving a baseband filtered and modulated signal and for providing a first RF modulated signal in a first specified RF band and for receiving Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) modulated or spread spectrum (SS) modulated signal and for providing said OFDM or SS modulated RF signal in a second specified RF band, said second specified RF band being in a different specified RF band than the first specified RF band; and

a selector for selecting one or more of the said RF modulated signals and providing the selected signal to the transmission medium.

9. The system as in claim 2 wherein the said shaped and filtered baseband signal comprises processed cross-correlated in-phase and quadrature-phase baseband signals.

10. The system as in claim 2 wherein the spread spectrum signals are comprised of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) signals.

3. A Radio Frequency (RF) system comprising:

a radio frequency(RF) circuit for receiving a baseband filtered and modulated signal for providing a first RF modulated signal in a first RF band and for receiving baseband shaped cross-correlated in-phase and quadrature-phase and modulated signal for providing a second RF modulated signal in a second RF band, said second RF band using a different RF band than the first RF band; and

a selector for selecting one or more of the said RF modulated signals and providing the selected signal to a signal transmitter for transmission of the selected signal.

11. The system as in claim 3 wherein the said first modulated RF signal is a spread spectrum modulated signal.

12. The system as in claim 3 wherein the said first modulated RF signal is an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) and modulated signal.

4. An Radio Frequency (RF) system comprising:

a radio frequency(RF) circuit for receiving baseband cross-correlated shaped and filtered in-phase and quadrature-phase and modulated signal and for providing a first RF modulated signal in a first specified RF band and for receiving Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) modulated or spread spectrum (SS) modulated signal and for providing said OFDM or SS modulated RF signal in a second specified RF band, said second specified RF band being a different specified RF band than the first specified RF band; and

a selector for selecting one or more of the said RF modulated signals and providing the selected signal to the transmission medium.

13. The system as in claim 4 wherein the said baseband cross-correlated shaped and filtered in-phase and quadrature-phase and modulated signal is a Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK) modulated signal.

5. A Radio Frequency (RF) system comprising:

a radio frequency(RF) circuit for receiving a baseband filtered and modulated signal for providing a first RF modulated signal using a first RF band and for receiving baseband Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) and modulated signal for providing a second RF modulated signal in a second RF band, said second RF band using a different RF band than the first RF band; and

a selector for selecting one of the said RF modulated signals and providing the selected signal to a signal transmitter for transmission of the selected signal.

14. The system as in claim 5 wherein said baseband filtered and modulated signal is a baseband cross-correlated shaped and filtered in-phase and quadrature-phase and modulated signal.

15. The system as in claim 5 wherein said baseband filtered and modulated signal is a Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK) modulated signal.
