Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for the anti-germination and/or biocide treatment of bulbs and tubers by means of CIPC and one or more terpenes or terpene oils. This process is particularly suitable for the treatment of potatoes tubers.

Claims

1. Process for the anti-germination and/or biocide treatment of bulbs or tubers involving the separate application

of CIPC and

a component selected from a terpene, a salt thereof, and a terpene oil, in this order or vice versa, such that the CIPC:

terpene, salt, or terpene oil ratio is between more than 1 and 3.

2. Process according to claim 1, such that the CIPC:

terpene, salt, or terpene oil ratio is between 1.5 and 3.

4. Process according to claim 1, such that the CIPC and/or the oil or the terpene or the salt are applied in solution form.

5. Process according to claim 4, such that the solution or solutions contain(s) one or more emulsifiers.

6. Process according to claim 5, such that said solution or said solutions contain(s) a non-ionic emulsifier.

7. Process according to claim 6, such that said solution or said solutions contain(s) 0 to 20% by weight emulsifier.

8. Process according to claim 1, such that the CIPC and/or the terpene, salt, or terpene oil is (are) applied by thermal fogging.

9. Process according to claim 8, such that application is carried out at a temperature between 180°

and 350°

C.

10. Process according to claim 1, for the anti-germination treatment of potatoes.

11. Process according to claim 1, such that the CIPC is applied in pure form.

12. Process according to claim 1, such that the terpene agent is applied after the CIPC.

13. Process according to claim 1, such that the CIPC is applied after the terpene agent.

14. Process according to claim 1, such that application of the terpene agent or the CIPC takes place immediately after and up to 30 days after that of the CIPC or the terpene agent, or vice versa.

3. Process for the anti-germination and/or biocide treatment of bulbs or tubers involving the separate application of CIPC and eugenol or isoeugenol, or one of the salts thereof, or a mixture or clove oil, in this order or vice versa.

15. Use of a terpene and/or terpene oil for solubilising the CIPC on bulbs or tubers, involving application of the terpene and/or terpene oil before or after that of the CIPC to said bulbs or tubers.
