Abstract

Methods and apparatuses to present advertisements which provide references to request real time communication connections. One embodiment includes presenting an advertisement including information usable to request a real time communication connection to a predetermined advertiser, which is to be charged a fee for the advertisement responsive to the real time communication connection established to the advertiser using the information.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

presenting an advertisement including information usable to request a real time communication connection to a predetermined advertiser, which is to be charged a fee for the advertisement responsive to the real time communication connection established to the advertiser using the information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the real time communication connection comprises a telephonic connection.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein said presenting the advertisement comprises:

providing the advertisement as a banner in a web page.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the banner comprises a plurality of advertisements for a plurality of advertisers.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein when displayed the banner animates the plurality of advertisements to display a portion of the advertisements a time.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein the fee is based on a price specified by the advertiser;

and the method further comprises;

determining placement of the advertisement relative to separate advertisements including separate communication references based at least partially on the price specified by the advertiser.

7. The method of claim 3, wherein when selected by a user in a browser, the banner causes the browser to load a web page of a first party to initiate a real time communication connection between the user and the advertiser.

8. The method of claim 3, wherein when selected by a user in a browser, the banner causes the browser to reveal contact information of the advertiser for a real time communication connection between the user and the advertiser.

9. The method of claim 3, wherein when selected by a user in a browser, the banner causes the browser to establish a real time communication connection between the user and the advertiser via Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

10. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

a first party paying an amount for including the banner in the web page;

the first party charging the advertiser the fee for the advertisement responsive to the real time communication connection to the advertiser established using the information.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the amount paid by the first party is not proportional to the fee charged by the first party.

12. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

a first party paying a first amount for including the banner in the web page;

the first party charging a user, who requests the real time communication connection with the advertiser, a second amount based on a time duration of real time communication with the advertiser and a rate of the advertiser;

the first party charging the advertiser the fee through paying the advertiser a portion of the second amount after subtracting the fee.

13. The method of claim 3, wherein when selected by a user in a browser, the banner causes the browser to display additional advertisements in the banner.

14. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

selecting the plurality of advertisements based on at least a portion of content of the web page.

15. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

selecting the plurality of advertisements based on at least a portion of content of the web page after the web page is requested.

16. The method of claim 3, further comprising:

selecting the plurality of advertisements based on at least a portion of content of the web page after the web page is at least partially displayed.

17. The method of claim 1, wherein said presenting the advertisement comprises:

presenting the advertisement in a tool bar of a graphical user interface.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

the tool bar searching to obtain the advertisement according to current content displayed in the graphical user interface.

19. The method of claim 1, wherein said presenting the advertisement comprises one of:

presenting the advertisement in response to a cursor being positioned over a portion of a web page;

presenting the advertisement in response to a selection of an element of a web page;

presenting the advertisement in a portion of a desktop of a graphical user interface;

presenting the advertisement in a result page of a search;

presenting the advertisement in a printed media;

presenting the advertisement in a television media; and

presenting the advertisement in a radio broadcasting media.

20. The method of claim 1, wherein said presenting the advertisement comprises:

presenting the advertisement on a surface of an item having a surface designed to be attached to a separate surface.

21. The method of claim 1, wherein said presenting the advertisement comprises:

presenting the advertisement on a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) user terminal.

22. The method of claim 21, further comprising:

the VoIP user terminal searching to obtain the advertisement according to one or more telephone numbers dialed on the VoIP user terminal.

23. The method of claim 1, wherein the information usable to request a telephonic connection to the advertiser includes a user interface element selectable to send a message to a server to arrange a telephonic connection to the advertiser according to the message.

24. A machine readable media embodying instructions, the instructions causing a machine to perform a method, the method comprising:

receiving a request;

responsive to the request, presenting an advertisement including information usable to request a real time communication connection to a predetermined advertiser, which is to be charged a fee for the advertisement responsive to the real time communication connection established to the advertiser using the information.

25. A data processing system, comprising:

means for receiving a request;

means for, responsive to the request, presenting an advertisement including information usable to request a real time communication connection to a predetermined advertiser, which is to be charged a fee for the advertisement responsive to the real time communication connection established to the advertiser using the information.
