Abstract

A method carried out by identifying acts related to enterprise performance; generating a competitive training environment, the environment including situations that model work situations requiring the acts; presenting the environment to a participant; and receiving interaction of the participant with the environment by the participant perceiving the situations and making inputs to the environment that model the acts in order to assess or improve participant skills related to enterprise performance. A system including a data component that stores data indicative of a work environment and data indicative of acts related to enterprise performance; a competitive environment generation component assimilates the data into a competitive environment that models work situations and; an interface component that presents the competitive environment to a participant and permits a participant to respond to the model work situations. A method carried out by generating a computer game where the situations presented in the game model job situations; engaging a worker as a game participant requiring the worker to advance in the game by providing appropriate inputs, the inputs to the game modeling acts that contribute to enterprise performance.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

identifying acts related to enterprise performance;

generating a competitive training environment, the environment including situations that model work situations requiring the acts;

presenting the environment to a participant; and

receiving interaction of the participant with the environment by the participant perceiving the situations and making inputs to the environment that model the acts in order to assess or improve participant skills related to enterprise performance.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein generating includes animating characters or real life performances.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein generating includes creating a game environment.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein presenting includes simultaneously presenting to a plurality of participants, the participants competing in the competitive training environment.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein a participant includes members of a team competing as one competitor in the competitive training environment.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein interacting includes completing inputs that model acts related to enterprise performance in order to advance in the competitive environment.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising tracking advancement of the participant in the competitive environment in order to assess skills related to enterprise performance.

8. The method of claim 4 further comprising tracking the relative advancement of participants in order to determine a winner in the competitive environment.

9. The method of claim 8 further comprising simultaneously displaying the relative performance of participants in order to promote competition and advancement in the competitive environment that improves skills related to enterprise performance.

10. A system comprising:

a data component that stores data indicative of a work environment and data indicative of acts related to enterprise performance;

a competitive environment generation component assimilates the data into a competitive environment that models work situations and;

an interface component that presents the competitive environment to a participant and permits a participant to respond to the model work situations.

11. The system of claim 10 wherein participant responses are stored and cumulatively tracked in the data component.

12. The system of claim 10 wherein the competitive environment generation component comprises a computer.

13. The system of claim 10 wherein the interface component comprises an audiovisual display and a control.

14. The system of claim 13 wherein the audiovisual display comprises a computer monitor and speakers or a television.

15. The system of claim 13 wherein the control comprises a keyboard, mouse, joystick, remote control, or combinations thereof.

16. A method comprising:

generating a computer game where the situations presented in the game model job situations;

engaging a worker as a game participant requiring the worker to advance in the game by providing appropriate inputs, the inputs to the game modeling acts that contribute to enterprise performance.

17. The method of claim 16 wherein a plurality of participants competitively participate in the game to improve skills that contribute to enterprise performance.

18. The method of claim 16 further comprising cumulatively tracking participant performance in the game as an assessment of skill level.

19. The method of claim 16 wherein the computer game is an illustration of actual job performance and engaging a worker as a game participant calls for assimilating data in the game reflecting the worker'"'"'s actual job performance such that the action illustrated portrays reality.
