Abstract

The present invention provides according to an embodiment a method of reproducing content, comprising the steps of: (a) receiving a digital content from an external source, the digital content protected by Digital Right Management (DRM) information, the DRM information authorizing a reproduction of the digital content; (b) requesting the DRM information to an external source based on URL (Uniform Resource Locator) information in order to normally reproduce the digital content; and (c) reproducing the digital content based on the DRM information.

Claims

1. A method of reproducing content, comprising:

(a) receiving a digital content from an external source, the digital content protected by Digital Right Management (DRM) information, the DRM information authorizing a reproduction of the digital content;

(b) requesting the DRM information to an external source based on URL (Uniform Resource Locator) information in order to normally reproduce the digital content; and

(c) reproducing the digital content based on the DRM information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said step (b) requests the DRM information to a web site that provides the DRM information.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein said step (b) requests the information to the web site along with an identification information associated with the digital content.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein said step (b) includes a step of downloading the requested DRM information from the external source.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the downloading step downloads the requested DRM information bound to an identification information.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein the downloading step downloads the requested DRM information after payment for the DRM information.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein said step (b) includes a step of generating a management information for managing the digital content, wherein the step (c) includes a step of controlling reproduction of the digital content based on the management information.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the management information includes at least one of a start position, an end position and size information of the digital content.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the digital content comprises a plurality of digital audios or videos, wherein the step (b) requests the DRM information to the external source in order to normally reproduce at least one digital audio or video.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the digital content comprises a plurality of digital audios or videos, wherein the step (b) requests the DRM information to the external source in order to normally reproduce the plurality of audios or videos.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the step (b) comprises:

(b1) indicating a location of external source to obtain the DRM information; and

(b2) interfacing with the external source to obtain the DRM information, based on the indicated location.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the step (a) further receiving a program for normally reproducing the digital content based on the DRM information from the external source.

13. A method of reproducing content, comprising:

(a) requesting Digital Right Management (DRM) information to an external source based on URL (Uniform Resource Locator) information in order to normally reproduce a digital content, the digital content being received previously from an external source and protected by DRM information, and the DRM information authorizing a reproduction of the digital content; and

(b) reproducing the digital content based on the DRM information.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the step (a) includes a step of receiving the requested DRM information through interface with the external source.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein the step (a) includes a step of purchasing the requested DRM information with charge.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein the step (a) requests the DRM information to the external source if there is no DRM information for normally reproducing the digital content.

17. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

receiving a program for normally reproducing the digital content based on the DRM information from the external source.

18. A method of transferring information, comprising:

(a) receiving a signal to request Digital Right Management (DRM) information from a requesting part, the DRM information required for at least normally reproducing a digital content;

(b) identifying the requesting part based on an ID information associated with the requesting part or the digital content; and

(c) determining whether to send the DRM information to a requesting part based on ID information.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the step (c) further determines whether to send the DRM information to the requesting part based on an action for play-authority.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the action includes a payment for the DRM information.

21. The method of claim 18, wherein the DRM information authorizes the reproduction of the digital.

22. The method of claim 18, wherein the digital content comprises a plurality of digital audios or videos, the DRM information required for normally reproducing the plurality of audios or videos.

23. The method of claim 18, wherein the digital content comprises a plurality of digital audios or videos, the DRM information required for normally reproducing at least one digital audio or video.

24. An apparatus for reproducing content, comprising:

a receiving unit receiving a digital source data and Digital Right Management (DRM) information from an external source, the DRM information authorizing a reproduction of the digital content;

a controller coupled to control the receiving unit, the controller requests at least the DRM information to the external source based on URL (Uniform Resource Locator) information; and

a reproducing unit reproducing the digital source data based on a control of the controller, the controller controlling the reproducing unit based on the requested DRM information.

25. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein the controller requests the DRM information to a web site that provides the DRM information.

26. The apparatus of claim 25, wherein the controller sends an identification information to external source with the signal to request the DRM information, wherein the identification information is associated with a device or the digital source data.

27. The apparatus of claim 24, further comprising:

a memory for storing the requested DRM information to be received from the external source.

28. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein the controller controls the memory to store the requested DRM information bound to an identification information.

29. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein the controller controls the memory to store the requested DRM information after payment for the DRM information.

30. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein the receiving unit further receives a program for normally reproducing the digital source data based on the DRM information from the external source.

31. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein the digital source data comprises a plurality of digital audios or videos, wherein the controller requests the DRM information to the external source in order to normally reproduce at least one digital audio or video.

32. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein the digital source data comprises a plurality of digital audios or videos, wherein the controller requests the DRM information to the external source in order to normally reproduce the plurality of audios or videos.

33. The apparatus of claim 24, further comprising:

a display unit indicating a location of external source for obtaining the DRM information, wherein the controller controls an interface with the external source to obtain the DRM information, based on the indicated location.
