Abstract

A transaction security apparatus, including an input device for inputting information regarding a transaction on an account involving an individual, a camera for obtaining a photograph of the individual'"'"'s face, wherein the photograph is stored as a digital photograph file, a processing device, wherein the processing device processes information regarding at least one of the information regarding a transaction and the digital photograph file, and a transmitter for transmitting the information regarding a transaction and the digital photograph file to a communication device associated with an account holder, wherein the information regarding a transaction and the digital photograph file are transmitted on or over at least one of the Internet and the World Wide Web.

Claims

1. A transaction security apparatus, comprising:

an input device for inputting information regarding a transaction on an account involving an individual;

a camera for obtaining a photograph of the individual'"'"'s face, wherein the photograph is stored as a digital photograph file;

a processing device, wherein the processing device processes information regarding at least one of the information regarding a transaction and the digital photograph file; and

a transmitter for transmitting the information regarding a transaction and the digital photograph file to a communication device associated with an account holder, wherein the information regarding a transaction and the digital photograph file are transmitted on or over at least one of the Internet and the World Wide Web.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the transaction is a credit card transaction.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the transaction is a charge card transaction.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the transaction is a debit card transaction.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the transaction is a currency card transaction.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the transaction is a “

smart”

card transaction.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the transaction is a checking account transaction.

8. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the transaction is a savings account transaction.

9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the transaction is an automated teller machine transaction.

10. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the transaction is a use of a cellular telephone.

11. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the communication device is a personal digital assistant or a cellular telephone.

12. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the communication device is a personal computer.

13. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the communication device is a television or an interactive television.

14. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the information regarding a transaction and the digital photograph file are transmitted to the communication device in real-time.

15. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the apparatus transmits the information regarding a transaction and the digital photograph file to a central processing computer.

16. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:

a receiver for receiving a signal from the communication device, wherein the signal contains information for authorizing or disallowing the transaction.

17. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:

a receiver for receiving a signal from the central processing computer, wherein the signal contains information for authorizing or disallowing the transaction.

18. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:

a receiver for receiving a signal from the central processing computer, wherein the signal contains a file photograph of the account holder, wherein the file photograph is displayed at the apparatus.

19. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:

a microphone for obtaining a voice message from the individual, wherein the processing device processes the voice message and generates and stores a voice print corresponding to the voice message, and further wherein the transmitter transmits the voice print to a central processing device, wherein the central processing device processes the voice print in conjunction with a file voice print associated with the account holder, and further wherein the central processing device determines if a comparison of the voice print and the file voice print determines that the individual involved in the transaction is the account holder.

20. A transaction security apparatus, comprising:

a receiver for receiving information regarding a transaction involving an account and an individual and a digital photograph file corresponding to a photograph of the individual'"'"'s face wherein the information regarding the transaction and the digital photograph file are transmitted from a transaction authorization device;

a processing device, wherein the processing device processes the information regarding the transaction and identifies the account involved in the transaction, and further wherein the processing device generates a signal containing a file photograph of an account holder associated with the account; and

a transmitter for transmitting the signal to the transaction authorization device.
