Abstract

Item selections along with user inputs are leveraged to provide users with automated item tagging. Further user interaction with additional windows and other interfacing techniques are not required to tag the item. In one example, a user selects items and begins typing a tag which is automatically associated with the selected items without further user action. Tagging suggestions can also be supplied based on a user'"'"'s selection, be dynamically supplied based on a user'"'"'s input action, and/or be formulated automatically based on user data and/or tags and the like associated with selections by an external source. Machine learning can also be utilized to facilitate in tag determination. This increases the value of the tagged items by providing greater item access flexibility and allowing multiple associations (or tags) with each item.

Claims

1. A system that facilitates item tagging of computerized data, comprising:

a user interface that interacts with a user, detects at least one selection of at least one item by the user, and detects at least one user input associated with the item selection; and

a tagging component that dynamically provides at least one suggested tag to the user via the user interface in response to the user input;

the suggested tag based on, at least in part, the user input.

2. The system of claim 1, the tagging component dynamically provides a suggested tag in response to each successive keystroke input by the user subsequent to an item selection.

3. The system of claim 1, the user input comprising a mouse click, a keyboard keystroke, a visual indicator, and/or an audible indicator.

4. The system of claim 1, the tagging component heuristically determines the suggested tag based on a selected item, a tag associated with a similar item, a recently utilized tag, a commonly used tag, a rule-based criterion, and/or a heuristic-based criterion.

5. The system of claim 1, the tagging component employs machine learning to determine at least one suggested tag.

6. The system of claim 1, the tagging component employs at least one external source to facilitate in determining at least one suggested tag.

7. The system of claim 6, the external source comprising the Internet.

8. The system of claim 1, the tagging component employs user data to determine the suggested tag.

20. A device employing the system of claim 1 comprising at least one selected from the group consisting of a computer, a server, and a handheld electronic device.

9. A method for facilitating item tagging of computerized data, comprising:

detecting a user selection of at least one item on a computing interface; and

automatically providing at least one suggested tag for the item to a user in response to the selection.

10. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

relaying an indication to the user via the computing interface that a tagging process is occurring.

11. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

detecting a user input associated with the user selection of the item; and

dynamically providing at least one suggested tag for the item to the user via the computing interface in response to the user input.

12. The method of claim 11 further comprising:

heuristically determining at least one suggested tag based on a selected item, a tag associated with a similar item, a recently utilized tag, a commonly used tag, a rule-based criterion, and/or a heuristic-based criterion.

13. The method of claim 11 further comprising:

employing machine learning to facilitate in determining at least one suggested tag.

14. The method of claim 11 further comprising:

utilizing an external source to facilitate in determining at least one suggested tag.

15. The method of claim 11 further comprising:

relaying an indication to the user via the computing interface that a tagging process is occurring.

16. The method of claim 11 further comprising:

accumulating each user input into a buffer; and

utilizing the buffer to facilitate in determining at least one suggested tag for the item.

17. The method of claim 11 further comprising:

relaying an indication of a current optimal suggested tag to the user via the computing interface.

18. A system that facilitates item tagging of computerized data, comprising:

a user interface that interacts with a user and detects at least one selection of at least one item by the user; and

a tagging component that automatically provides at least one suggested tag to the user via the user interface;

the suggested tag based on, at least in part, the item selected.

19. The system of claim 18, the tagging component heuristically determines the suggested tag based on a selected item, a tag associated with a similar item, a recently utilized tag, a commonly used tag, a rule-based criterion, and/or a heuristic-based criterion.
