6. A method for distributing data in a heterogeneous network, comprising the steps of
providing a private mobile network including a mobility server, mobile components and fixed components, the mobility server including data storage units that store data related to network members, including data reflecting personal information, and data reflecting information concerning equipment, including information regarding memory capacity, screen characteristics and data rendering capabilities of such equipment; -
data stored on behalf of network members, at least some of said data being stored in multiple data formats;
accepting a data distribution request, in the form of either a message originating within or outside the network, or a data access request from a said network member;
preparing the required data for distribution, including the steps of determining delivery format requirements, based on format acceptance criteria of the addressee;
determining whether data format rendering is required, based on the format of the required data, including available stored copies of the data;
in the event rendering is required, determining an optimum network location at which to perform such rendering and effecting such rendering;
transmitting said data to all addressees, each transmission being formatted for acceptance by each respective addressee;
tracking said data after said transmitting step; and
notifying preselected parties upon the occurrence of preselected actions regarding said data.
