Abstract

Improved search capabilities are disclosed for mobile communications devices such as cell phones. These and other capabilities are employed to improve delivery of sponsored content, such as advertisements and sponsored links, to appropriate or desirable mobile communication facilities.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

presenting a plurality of mobile communication facility types to a sponsor;

associating each one of the plurality of mobile communication facility types with one or more rendering capabilities;

receiving a selection of at least one mobile communication facility type from the sponsor;

receiving an item of content from the sponsor for distribution; and

formatting the item of content according to the one or more rendering capabilities of the at least one mobile communication facility type of the selection.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of presenting at least one mobile subscriber characteristic to the sponsor.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein the mobile subscriber characteristic is a user characteristic.

4. The method of claim 2 wherein the mobile subscriber characteristic is a geographic region.

5. The method of claim 2 wherein the mobile subscriber characteristic is a history transaction characteristic.

6. The method of claim 2 wherein the mobile subscriber characteristic is a transaction history characteristic.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of matching the content with a mobile communication facility for receipt of the content.

8. The method of claim 7 further comprising the step of presenting a time to a sponsor, wherein the time is used in the matching process.

9. The method of claim 7 wherein the matching involves determining a relevancy.

10. The method of claim 9 wherein the relevancy determines a score.

11. The method of claim 7 wherein the matching involves determining a relevancy of the sponsored content to the mobile communication facility.

12. The method of claim 1 wherein the presentation is provided through a web interface.

13. The method of claim 1 wherein the presentation is provided through a client program.

14. The method of claim 1 wherein the presentation is provided through an API.

15. The method of claim 1 wherein the sponsored content comprises a sponsored link.

16. The method of claim 1 wherein the sponsored content comprises a sponsored call.

17. The method of claim 1 wherein the plurality of mobile communication types includes at least one aggregation of types.

18. The method of claim 17 wherein the aggregation is an aggregation of manufacturers.

19. The method of claim 17 wherein the aggregation is an aggregation of models.

20. The method of claim 17 wherein the aggregation is an aggregation of styles.

34. A method comprising:

receiving a bid for the delivery of sponsored content, wherein the bid includes information relating to a mobile communication facility type with an associated rendering capability;

matching the bid with a mobile communication facility at least in part based on the mobile communication facility type; and

transmitting the sponsored content to the mobile communication facility.

53. A method comprising:

assessing a relevancy of an item of sponsored content for delivery to a mobile communication facility at least in part based on a mobile communication facility type with an associated rendering capability; and

selecting at least one mobile communication facility for receipt of the item of the sponsored content according to the relevancy of the item to the at least one mobile communication facility.

delivering sponsored content to a mobile communication facility, wherein the mobile communication facility is associated with a mobile communication facility type, wherein the sponsored content has been selected based on the mobile communication facility type.
