- a first module including a first housing, an alarm in the first housing, a reservoir in the first housing to hold a fluid, and a pump in the first housing, adapted to pump the fluid from the reservoir; and
a second module adapted to removably attach to the first module, the second module including a second housing, and a display in the second housing, wherein the second module communicates with the first module to provide a fluid delivery program for the flow of the fluid from the first housing.

activating one or more icons displayed on a second module of an external infusion device to select one or more program menus formed by the one or more icons, the external infusion device having a first module, the first module including a first housing, an alarm in the first housing, a reservoir in the first housing to hold fluid, and a pump in the first housing, adapted to pump the fluid from the reservoir, and a second module, the second module being adapted to removably attach to the first module, the second module including a second housing, and a display in the second housing, wherein the second module communicates with the first module to provide a fluid delivery program for the flow of the fluid from the first housing; and

displaying one or more icons on a display of a second module of an external infusion device, the external infusion device having a first module, the first module including a first housing, an alarm in the first housing, a reservoir in the first housing to hold fluid, and a pump in the first housing, adapted to pump the fluid from the reservoir, and a second module, the second module being adapted to removably attach to the first module, the second module including a second housing, and a display in the second housing, wherein the second module communicates with the first module to provide a fluid delivery program for the flow of the fluid from the first housing;
receiving pump flow commands on fluid delivery in the first module; and
