Abstract

Improved capabilities are disclosed for receiving a request to connect to sponsored content from a mobile communication facility, receiving information relating to a characteristic associated with the mobile communication facility, and assessing the appropriateness of the request based at least in part on the information relating to the characteristic. Based at least in part on the assessed appropriateness, a mobile communication facility user'"'"'s assess to content may be determined. These and other capabilities are employed to decrease the likelihood of fraudulent user interaction with content presented to a mobile communication facility.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

receiving a request to connect to a sponsored content element from a mobile communication facility;

receiving information relating to a characteristic associated with the mobile communication facility;

assessing an appropriateness of the request to connect to the sponsored content element based at least in part on the information relating to the characteristic; and

providing a mobile communication facility user an access to connect to the sponsored content based at least in part on the appropriateness.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein a sponsored content element is a sponsored link.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein a sponsored content element is a sponsored call.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the characteristic associated with the mobile communication facility is device type.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the characteristic associated with the mobile communication facility is a mobile subscriber characteristic.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the mobile subscriber characteristic is user history.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the mobile subscriber characteristic is user transactions.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the mobile subscriber characteristic is a time of mobile communication facility use.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the appropriateness of the request to connect to the sponsored content is determined by a mobile communication facility user'"'"'s past performance.

16. The method of claim 1, wherein the appropriateness of the request is determined by an identity of a wireless provider.

17. The method of claim 1, wherein the appropriateness of the request is determined by a comparison of the requesting user'"'"'s characteristics with other mobile communication facility users previously making similar requests.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein the comparison is segmented by mobile subscriber characteristics.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein the mobile subscriber characteristic is user history.

22. The method of claim 20, wherein the mobile subscriber characteristic is user transactions.

24. The method of claim 17, wherein the comparison is segmented by mobile communication facility characteristics.

28. The method of claim 1, wherein the appropriateness of the request is determined by a comparison of the user'"'"'s current request with previous requests.

29. The method of claim 1, wherein the appropriateness of the request is determined by a location.

40. The method of claim 1, wherein the appropriateness of the request is communicated to a wireless provider through a secure channel for Wireless Application Protocol.

41. The method of claim 1, wherein the access is permitting a click on sponsored content from a mobile communication facility.

42. The method of claim 1, wherein the access is permitting a click on all sponsored content from one advertiser.

43. The method of claim 1, wherein the access is permitting a click on all sponsored content from similar advertisers.

47. A method of protecting advertisers from fraudulent costs, comprising:

authorizing a mobile communication facility to interact with sponsored content;

tracking sponsored content interactions from the mobile communication facility; and

comparing the frequency of the interactions against an expected behavior to determine suspected fraudulent interaction traffic.

52. The method of claim 47, wherein the tracking of the sponsored content interactions is based at least in part on a stored summary of a user'"'"'s interaction with sponsored content.

53. The method of claim 52, wherein the stored summary is maintained on a wireless provider'"'"'s data facility.

a providing facility adapted to provide the mobile communication facility user an access to connect to the sponsored content based at least in part on the appropriateness.

an authorizing facility adapted to authorize a mobile communication facility to interact with sponsored content;

a tracking facility adapted to track sponsored content interactions from the mobile communication facility; and

a comparison facility adapted to compare the frequency of the interactions against an expected behavior to determine suspected fraudulent interaction traffic.
