Abstract

The present invention relates to a web-based software application, in which a server at a publisher compiles a predetermined list of items, such as regulatory, contract, budgeting, and legal issues, and stores them for periodic download to a client. The client would subscribe to the publisher, to receive information on a predetermined set of items. Periodically the server will scan its database and according to the client subscription, will retrieve and forward the predetermined items desired, to the client. The forwarded items will be compiled by the client and presented to the user in an easily viewable and searchable format. The user may choose a particular item to review, and then, if the user determines the item to be a relevant one, the user may transfer the item information to a monitoring software application for future monitoring and/or internal implementation as an issue.

Claims

1. A subscription method performed over a computerized network, comprising:

receiving predetermined information from a publisher;

displaying the received information as a list of items on a display screen;

displaying the information according to predetermined criteria; and

dispositioning the items for future handling.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein said receiving step is via e-mail notification to a recipient.

3. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:

scanning a database for said predetermined information which has been updated since a previous scan of said database.

4. The method according to claim 3, wherein only updated predetermined information is forwarded to said recipient.

5. The method according to claim 4, wherein said scanning step is performed at predetermined intervals.

6. The method according to claim 3, wherein said predetermined information is stored in at least one of said channels in said database.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein said predetermined information is at least one item which is included in at least or more of said channels.

8. The method according to claim 4, wherein said e-mail notification can be edited to select predetermined parameters which modify the predetermined information sent in said e-mail notification.

9. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:

creating an issue for tracking and monitoring based on the dispositioning of said predetermined information.

10. The method according to claim 1, wherein said predetermined criteria includes filter settings of at least one of items of interest, channel, topic, jurisdictions, dispositions, and dates.

11. The method according to claim 1, wherein said predetermined criteria includes filter settings of at least one of keywords, channel, topic, jurisdictions, date, read status, disposition, and priority.

12. The method according to claim 1, wherein said displaying steps include at least one of displaying details of each of said items, a list of attachments, notes, item history, and related issues.

13. The method according to claim 12, wherein said dispositioning step includes designated each of said items as one of Not of Interest, Of Interest, and Resolved.

14. The method according to claim 1, wherein said predetermined criteria includes sort settings of at least jurisdiction and publish date.

15. A method of compiling predetermined information in a subscription application over a computerized network, comprising:

storing information on a plurality of predetermined information under one or more channels in a database;

scanning said database periodically for updated information since a last scan of said database; and

forwarding an e-mail notification to a recipient, when updated information is found.

16. The method according to claim 15, wherein only updated predetermined information is forwarded to said recipient.

17. The method according to claim 15, wherein said scanning step is performed at predetermined intervals.

18. The method according to claim 15, wherein said predetermined information is at least one item which is included in at least or more of said channels.

19. The method according to claim 15, wherein said e-mail notification can be edited to select predetermined parameters which modify the predetermined information sent in the e-mail notification.

20. A computer system having a program which performs a subscription method over a computerized network, comprising:

means for receiving predetermined information from a publisher;

means for displaying the received information as a list of items;

means for displaying the information according to predetermined criteria; and

means for dispositioning the items for future handling.

21. The system according to claim 20, further comprising:

means for scanning a database for said predetermined information which has been updated since a previous scan of said database.

22. The system according to claim 21, wherein only updated predetermined information is forwarded to said recipient.

23. The system according to claim 21, wherein said scanning step is performed at predetermined intervals.

24. The system according to claim 21, wherein said predetermined information is stored in at least one of said channels in said database.

25. The system according to claim 21, wherein said predetermined information is at least one item which is included in at least or more of said channels.

26. The system according to claim 20, wherein said e-mail notification can be edited to select predetermined parameters which modify the predetermined information sent in the e-mail notification.

27. The system according to claim 20, further comprising:

means for creating an issue for tracking and monitoring based on the dispositioning of said predetermined information.

28. The system according to claim 20, wherein said predetermined criteria includes filter settings of at least one of items of interest, channel, topic, jurisdictions, dispositions, and dates.

29. The system according to claim 20, wherein said predetermined criteria includes filter settings of at least one of keywords, channel, topic, jurisdictions, date, read status, disposition, and priority.

30. The system according to claim 20, wherein said predetermined criteria includes sort settings of at least jurisdiction and publish date.

31. A computer system having a program which performs a method of compiling predetermined information in a subscription application over a computerized network, comprising:

means for storing information on a plurality of predetermined information under one or more channels in a database;

means for scanning said database periodically for updated information since a last scan of said database; and

means for forwarding an e-mail notification to a recipient, when updated information is found.

32. The system according to claim 31, wherein only updated predetermined information is forwarded to said recipient.

33. The system according to claim 31, wherein said scanning step is performed at predetermined intervals.

34. The system according to claim 31, wherein said predetermined information is at least one item which is included in at least or more of said channels.

35. The system according to claim 31, wherein said e-mail notification can be edited to select predetermined parameters which modify the predetermined information sent in the e-mail notification.

36. A computer system for performing a subscription method over a computerized network, comprising:

at least one memory containing at least one program comprising the steps of;

receiving predetermined information from a publisher;

displaying the received information as a list of items on a display screen;

displaying the information according to predetermined criteria; and

dispositioning the items for future handling; and

at least one processor for running the program.

37. A computer system for performing a method of compiling predetermined information in a subscription application over a computerized network, comprising:

at least one memory containing at least one program comprising the steps of;

storing information on a plurality of predetermined information under one or more channels in a database;

scanning said database periodically for updated information since a last scan of said database; and

forwarding an e-mail notification to a recipient, when updated information is found; and

at least one processor for running the program.

38. A computer-readable medium whose contents cause a computer system to perform a subscription method over a computerized network, the computer system having a program comprising the steps of:

receiving predetermined information from a publisher;

displaying the received information as a list of items on a display screen;

displaying the information according to predetermined criteria; and

dispositioning the items for future handling.

39. A computer-readable medium whose contents cause a computer system to perform a method of compiling predetermined information in a subscription application over a computerized network, the computer system having a program comprising the steps of:

storing information on a plurality of predetermined information under one or more channels in a database;

scanning said database periodically for updated information since a last scan of said database; and

forwarding an e-mail notification to a recipient, when updated information is found.

40. An apparatus for performing a subscription method over a computerized network, comprising:

a storage device which stores information on a plurality of items;

a subscription module which displays said plurality of items based on user-selected predetermined criteria, including sort and filter criteria, and which dispositions said items based on user preferences; and

a display which displays said information on said items in a format such that a user can view details of said items according to user preferences.

41. An apparatus for compiling predetermined information in a subscription application over a computerized network, comprising:

a storage device which stores information on a plurality of items in a plurality of channels, wherein each of said items is stored in one or more of said channels; and

means for scanning said storage device periodically for updated items since a last scan of said storage device; and

means for forwarding an e-mail notification to a recipient, when updated items are located in said storage device.

42. A method of generating a GUI screen for performing a subscription method, comprising:

displaying, on a screen, at least one item for dispositioning by a user, said items being displayed according to predetermined criteria;

wherein said predetermined criteria includes filter settings of at least one of, items of interest, channel, topic, jurisdictions, dispositions, dates, keywords, read status, disposition, and priority.

43. A method of generating a GUI screen for performing a subscription method, comprising:

displaying, on a screen, at least one item for dispositioning by a user, said items being displayed according to predetermined criteria;

wherein said predetermined criteria includes sort settings of at least one of jurisdiction and publish date.

44. A computer system having a program which generates a GUI screen for performing a subscription method, comprising:

means for displaying, on a screen, at least one item for dispositioning by a user, said items being displayed according to predetermined criteria;

wherein said predetermined criteria includes filter settings of at least one of, items of interest, channel, topic, jurisdictions, dispositions, dates, keywords, read status, disposition, and priority.

45. A computer system having a program which generates a GUI screen for performing a subscription method, comprising:

means for displaying, on a screen, at least one item for dispositioning by a user, said items being displayed according to predetermined criteria;

wherein said predetermined criteria includes sort settings of at least one of jurisdiction and publish date.

46. A computer system for generating a GUI screen for performing a subscription method, comprising:

at least one memory containing at least one program comprising the steps of;

displaying, on a screen, at least one item for dispositioning by a user, said items being displayed according to predetermined criteria;

wherein said predetermined criteria includes filter settings of at least one of, items of interest, channel, topic, jurisdictions, dispositions, dates, keywords, read status, disposition, and priority; and

at least one processor for running the program.

47. A computer system for generating a GUI screen for performing a subscription method, comprising:

at least one memory containing at least one program comprising the steps of;

displaying, on a screen, at least one item for dispositioning by a user, said items being displayed according to predetermined criteria;

wherein said predetermined criteria includes sort settings of at least one of jurisdiction and publish date; and

at least one processor for running the program.

48. A computer-readable medium whose contents cause a computer system to generate a GUI screen for performing a subscription method, the computer system having a program comprising the steps of:

displaying, on a screen, at least one item for dispositioning by a user, said items being displayed according to predetermined criteria;

wherein said predetermined criteria includes filter settings of at least one of, items of interest, channel, topic, jurisdictions, dispositions, dates, keywords, read status, disposition, and priority.

49. A computer-readable medium whose contents cause a computer system to generate a GUI screen for performing a subscription method, the computer system having a program comprising the steps of:

displaying, on a screen, at least one item for dispositioning by a user, said items being displayed according to predetermined criteria;

wherein said predetermined criteria includes sort settings of at least one of jurisdiction and publish date.
