Abstract
Electrophoresis Compositions, methods and kits useful for, among other things, detecting, quantifying and/or characterizing analytes are provided. The compositions are useful as electrophoresis standards for determine the isoelectric point and molecular weight of an analyte. The electrophoresis standards generally comprise at least one label moiety and one or more reactive moieties that when activated attach the standard to a substrate.

16. An electrophoresis standard for use in carrying out electrophoresis comprising:
- a peptide comprised of 5-carboxytetramethylrhodamine (5-TAMRA) and 4-azido-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorobenzoic acid.

17. A method of determining the mobility of one or more analytes comprising the steps of:

(a) providing one or more analytes and one or more electrophoresis standards in a fluid path, said electrophoresis standard comprised of one or more moieties, at least one of said moieties being comprised of one or more reactive moeties, that when activated, attaches the electrophoresis standard to a substrate;
(b) resolving said one or more analytes and said one or more electrophoresis standards in said fluid path;
(c) detecting signals of said one or more analytes and said one or more standards; and
(d) comparing the one or more signals of said one or more analytes to one or more signals of the one or more standards to determine the mobility of the one of more analytes. - View Dependent Claims (18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23)

24. A method of determining the isoelectric point of one or more analytes by isoelectric focusing comprising the steps of:

(a) forming a pH gradient in a fluid path comprising one or more analytes and one or more standards, said standards comprised of one or more moieties, at least one of said moieties being comprised of one or more reactive moieties, that when activated, attaches the standard to a substrate;
(b) focusing the one or more analytes and the one or more standards at a position equal to the isoelectric point of the analyte and the standard;
(c) detecting one or more signals generated from the one or more analytes and standards; and
(d) determining the isoelectric point of one or more analytes by comparing the signals of the one or more analytes to the signals of the one or more standards. - View Dependent Claims (25, 26, 27, 28)
