1. A method for processing performance data from a communications network comprising one or more network elements, the method comprising the steps of:
- a) receiving network data from a network element;
b) converting said network data from a time-series format to a time-frequency format;
c) modifying said converted network data by removing a first set of frequency components to create a first set of modified data; and
d) applying an anomaly detection algorithm to said first set of modified data.
