1. A method for use in an implantable medical device system, comprising:
- selecting a first sensing electrode operatively disposed along a first heart chamber;
setting a first sensing window corresponding to cardiac electrical events occurring in a second heart chamber;
enabling a first sense amplifier coupled to the first sensing electrode;
sensing a first signal corresponding to cardiac electrical events occurring in the second heart chamber during the first sensing window using the first sensing electrode; and
transmitting the first signal from an implantable medical device to an external monitor.

a timing and control module for setting a first sensing window used to enable the first sense amplifier; and

a sensing electrode adapted for deployment in operative relation to a first heart chamber;
a sense amplifier adapted to receive a signal from the sensing electrode corresponding to electrical events occurring in a second heart chamber;
a timing and control module for setting a sensing window used to enable the sense amplifier;
an implantable telemetry circuit for transferring the signal sensed during the sensing window by the sense amplifier; and
an external telemetry circuit adapted for receiving the transferred signal from the implantable telemetry circuit.
