Abstract

A method, computer program product and computing device for generating a first user media persona on a first personal media device. The first user media persona being based on user data concerning media content associated with a first user. Communication is established with a second personal media device associated with a second user. A second user media persona is received from the second personal media device.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

generating a first user media persona on a first personal media device, the first user media persona being based on user data concerning media content associated with a first user;

establishing communication with a second personal media device associated with a second user; and

receiving a second user media persona from the second personal media device.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

comparing the first user media persona from the first personal media device with the second user media persona from the second personal media device to detect one or more matching patterns.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein:

the first user media persona defines one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the first user; and

the second user media persona defines one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the second user.

4. The method of claim 3 wherein comparing the first user media persona from the first personal media device with the second user media persona from the second personal media device includes:

comparing the one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the first user with the one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the second user to detect the one or more matching patterns.

5. The method of claim 2 further comprising:

if one or more matching patterns are detected, generating a matching persona notification concerning the one or more matching patterns.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

establishing communication with a third personal media device associated with a third user.

7. A computer program product residing on a computer readable medium having a plurality of instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

generating a first user media persona on a first personal media device, the first user media persona being based on user data concerning media content associated with a first user;

establishing communication with a second personal media device associated with a second user; and

receiving a second user media persona from the second personal media device.

8. The computer program product of claim 7 further comprising instructions for performing operations comprising:

comparing the first user media persona from the first personal media device with the second user media persona from the second personal media device to detect one or more matching patterns.

9. The computer program product of claim 8 wherein:

the first user media persona defines one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the first user; and

the second user media persona defines one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the second user.

10. The computer program product of claim 9 wherein the instructions for comparing the first user media persona from the first personal media device with the second user media persona from the second personal media device include instructions for performing operations comprising:

comparing the one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the first user with the one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the second user to detect the one or more matching patterns.

11. The computer program product of claim 8 further comprising instructions for performing operations comprising:

if one or more matching patterns are detected, generating a matching persona notification concerning the one or more matching patterns.

12. The computer program product of claim 7 further comprising instructions for performing operations comprising:

establishing communication with a third personal media device associated with a third user.

13. A computing device configured to perform operations comprising:

generating a first user media persona on a first personal media device, the first user media persona being based on user data concerning media content associated with a first user;

establishing communication with a second personal media device associated with a second user; and

receiving a second user media persona from the second personal media device.

14. The computing device of claim 13, wherein the computing device is further configured to perform operations comprising:

comparing the first user media persona from the first personal media device with the second user media persona from the second personal media device to detect one or more matching patterns.

15. The computing device of claim 14 wherein:

the first user media persona defines one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the first user; and

the second user media persona defines one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the second user.

16. The computing device of claim 15 wherein comparing the first user media persona from the first personal media device with the second user media persona from the second personal media device includes:

comparing the one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the first user with the one or more artists, genres, and tracks preferred by the second user to detect the one or more matching patterns.

17. The computing device of claim 14, wherein the computing device is further configured to perform operations comprising:

if one or more matching patterns are detected, generating a matching persona notification concerning the one or more matching patterns.

18. The computing device of claim 13, wherein the computing device is further configured to perform operations comprising:

establishing communication with a third personal media device associated with a third user.
