Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention comprise systems, methods and devices for modifying and managing documents with a remote application that receives input from an imaging device.

Claims

1. A method for imaging device remote document modification, said method comprising:

a) receiving user data from an Imaging Device (IDev);

b) receiving a form identifier from said IDev;

c) identifying a user based on said user data;

d) retrieving a form file associated with said form identifier;

e) identifying user-specific fields in said form file;

f) retrieving user field data associated with said user-specific fields using said user data; and

g) populating said user-specific fields with said user field data thereby creating a filled form.

2. A method as described in claim 1 further comprising sending said filled form to said IDev.

3. A method as described in claim 1 further comprising identifying other fields in said form file.

4. A method as described in claim 3 further comprising retrieving field data related to said other fields.

5. A method as described in claim 4 further comprising populating said other fields in said form file with said field data.

6. A method as described in claim 1 wherein said filled form is formatted in a markup language.

7. A method as described in claim 1 further comprising:

a) receiving a user identification at said application from said IDev; and

b) filtering said list of available forms based on said user identification.

8. A method as described in claim 1 wherein said steps a-g are performed by an application that is remote to said IDev.

9. A method as described in claim 1 wherein said steps a-g are performed by application residing on said IDev.

10. A method as described in claim 1 wherein said form file is a printer-ready file and said populating comprises appending said user field data as a markup language tag.

11. A method for imaging device remote document modification, said method comprising:

a) receiving user data from an Imaging Device (IDev), said user data identifying a user;

b) identifying a set of forms available to said user;

c) sending a form list identifying said set of forms to said IDev;

d) receiving a form identifier from said IDev;

e) retrieving a form file associated with said form identifier;

f) identifying user-specific fields in said form file;

g) retrieving user field data associated with said user-specific fields using said user data; and

populating said user-specific fields with said user field data thereby creating a filled form.

12. A method as described in claim 11 further comprising identifying other fields in said form file.

13. A method as described in claim 12 further comprising retrieving field data related to said other fields.

14. A method as described in claim 13 further comprising populating said other fields in said form file with said field data.

15. A method as described in claim 11 wherein said form file is a printer-ready file and said populating comprises appending said user field data as a markup language tag.

16. A method for imaging device remote document modification, said method comprising:

a) receiving user data from an Imaging Device (IDev), said user data identifying a user;

b) identifying a set of forms available to said user;

c) sending a form list identifying said set of forms to said IDev;

d) receiving a form identifier from said IDev;

e) retrieving a form file associated with said form identifier;

f) identifying user-specific fields in said form file;

g) retrieving user field data associated with said user-specific fields using said user data;

h) populating said user-specific fields with said user field data;

i) identifying additional fields in said form file;

j) sending a field data request to said IDev;

k) receiving field data associated with said additional fields from said IDev; and

l) populating said additional fields with said field data.

17. A method as described in claim 16 wherein said form file is a printer-ready file and said populating comprises appending at least one of said user field data and said field data as a markup language tag.

18. A method as described in claim 16 further comprising sending said form file populated with said user field data and said field data to said IDev.

19. A method as described in claim 16 wherein said retrieving user field data comprises accessing a remote database.

20. A method as described in claim 16 wherein said steps a-l are performed on a device remote to said IDev.
