Method and communication system for circuit switch users accessing IP multimedia subsystem
First Claim
1. A method for a Circuit Switch (CS) domain user accessing an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) domain, comprising:
- mapping CS domain signaling messages forwarded by a mobile switch center (MSC)/visiting location register (VLR) into session initiation protocol (SIP) signaling messages by an access gateway control function (AGCF) entity;
transmitting the SIP signaling messages to a call session control function (CSCF) entity in the IMS domain;
mapping the SIP signaling messages transmitted from the IMS domain to the CS domain into respective CS domain signaling messages by the AGCF entity; and
transmitting said respective CS domain signaling messages to the MSC/VLR.

Abstract
A method for a Circuit Switch (CS) domain user accessing an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) domain includes: an access gateway control function (AGCF) entity maps CS domain signaling messages forwarded by a mobile switch center (MSC)/visiting location register (VLR) to session initiation protocol (SIP) signaling messages and transmits the SIP signaling messages to a call session control function (CSCF) entity in the IMS domain; the AGCF entity maps the SIP signaling messages transmitted from the IMS domain to the CS domain to the CS domain signaling messages and then transmits the CS domain signaling messages to the MSC/VLR. A communication system and an AGCF entity for implementing this method are also disclosed. Compared with the prior art, the present invention requires less updating and reconstruction of the existing network and is applicable for the CS domaine users of R99 version or prior to R99 version to access the IMS domain.
