Abstract

An Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) includes a Serving-Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF). The S-CSCF includes a Service Capability Interaction Manager (SCIM) configured to invoke one or more application services in response to a message being received by the S-CSCF.

Claims

1. An Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) comprising:

a Serving-Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF) comprising;

a Service Capability Interaction Manager (SCIM) configured to;

invoke one or more application services in response to a message being received by the S-CSCF.

2. The IMS of claim 1 wherein the received message includes a session initiation protocol (SIP) message.

3. The IMS of claim 1 wherein the S-CSCF is configured to:

parse the received message, and

obtain a subscriber profile for a destination of the received message.

4. The IMS of claim 3 wherein the subscriber profile includes at least one SCIM rule that is used to invoke the one or more application services.

5. The IMS of claim 1 wherein the S-CSCF further comprises:

a database configured to store subscriber profiles.

6. The IMS of claim 1 wherein, when invoking the one or more application services, the SCIM is configured to:

invoke a plurality of micro application services.

7. The IMS of claim 1 wherein, when invoking the one or more application services, the SCIM is configured to:

invoke the one or more application services based on at least one of policy information, location information, presence information, load balancing information, network outage information, application server status information, or resource availability information.

8. A method comprising:

receiving a call request at a Serving-Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF), the S-CSCF including a Service Capability Interaction Manager (SCIM);

identifying one or more subscriber profiles in response to receiving the call request; and

invoking at least one application service via the SCIM using at least one subscriber profile of the one or more subscriber profiles.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein the identifying includes:

parsing the received message to identify a called party,

using the called party identity to identify the at least one subscriber profile.

10. The method of claim 8 wherein the at least one application service includes a micro application service.

11. The method of claim 8 wherein the at least one subscriber profile includes a SCIM rule.

12. The method of claim 8 further comprising:

establishing a call in response to the call request;

monitoring, via the SCIM, the call; and

invoking, via the SCIM, at least one additional application service during the call.

13. A method comprising:

receiving a call request at a Serving-Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF);

parsing, via the S-CSCF, the received call request to create parsed information;

obtaining, via the S-CSCF, a subscriber profile based on the parsed information;

invoking, via a Service Capability Interaction Manager (SCIM), an application service using the subscriber profile obtained by the S-CSCF and a portion of the parsed information.

14. The method of claim 13 further comprising:

establishing a call in response to the call request;

monitoring, via the SCIM, the call; and

invoking, via the SCIM, at least one additional application service during the call.

15. The method of claim 13 wherein the invoking the application service is based on at least one of policy information, location information, presence information, load balancing information, network outage information, application server status information, or resource availability information.

16. A Serving-Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF) comprising:

a Service Capability Interaction Manager (SCIM) configured to;

invoke an application service using a subscriber profile and information from a message received by the S-CSCF.

17. The S-CSCF of claim 16 wherein, when invoking the application service, the SCIM is configured to:

invoke the application service based on at least one of policy information, location information, presence information, load balancing information, network outage information, application server status information, or resource availability information.

18. The S-CSCF of claim 16 wherein the message includes a session initiation protocol (SIP) call request.
