1. A method of locating and selecting a portion of a digital image to be excised from said image comprising:
- determining a location of at least two reference points on said digital image;
selecting at least one of said reference points;
scanning said digital image in a preselected direction between said selected reference points to detect at least one horizontal line;
locating a lower boundary point below said detected horizontal line;
identifying an excise region of the digital image bounded by a lower horizontal boundary which intersects said lower boundary point, an upper horizontal boundary which is located at a preselected distance above said lower horizontal boundary and the horizontal dimensions of the digital image; and
excising said excise region from said digital image.

Abstract
A financial report and method for processing and displaying relevant financial information in connection therewith include at least one transaction and abbreviated record relating to the transaction which contains only nonpersonally identifying information. The abbreviated electronic record can be one of a partial view image or an assemblage of textual information relating to the transaction. A hyperlink can also be included or substituted for the image or text. The invention also provides a method of selecting the portion of the abbreviated record that is displayed for the user which includes the division of an underlying document or image into relevant and irrelevant regions for selective inclusion in the report.

1. A method of locating and selecting a portion of a digital image to be excised from said image comprising:
-
determining a location of at least two reference points on said digital image;
selecting at least one of said reference points;
scanning said digital image in a preselected direction between said selected reference points to detect at least one horizontal line;
locating a lower boundary point below said detected horizontal line;
identifying an excise region of the digital image bounded by a lower horizontal boundary which intersects said lower boundary point, an upper horizontal boundary which is located at a preselected distance above said lower horizontal boundary and the horizontal dimensions of the digital image; and
