Abstract

A mobile communication terminal for providing contents to a user, comprises a transceiver for receiving one or more contents set as default and one or more new contents from a server; a display unit for displaying the contents set as default and the new contents; a controller for controlling the transceiver and the display unit, thereby to display the received contents set as default, and then display the new contents if the new contents is received.

Claims

1. A mobile communication terminal for providing contents to a user, comprising:

a transceiver for receiving one or more contents set as default and one or more new contents from a server;

a display unit for displaying the contents set as default and the new contents; and

a controller for controlling the transceiver and the display unit, thereby to display the received contents set as default, and the new contents if the new contents are received.

2. The terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller periodically updates the displayed contents from the server by using an update function.

3. The terminal of claim 2, wherein the controller registers its mobile communication terminal to a register server to inform that the mobile communication terminal uses an update function.

4. The terminal of claim 3, wherein the controller sets or releases the registration according to a user selection.

5. The terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller may analyze pre-set options included in the received contents from the transceiver and then control displaying of the contents according to the analysis result.

6. The terminal of claim 5, wherein the pre-set options include an identification (ID), a sequence number, a start time, and a termination time.

7. The terminal of claim 6, wherein the start time is counted at a point of time when the contents start to be displayed.

8. The terminal of claim 6, wherein the termination time is counted from a point of time when the start time starts to be counted.

9. The terminal of claim 1, wherein the display unit sequentially displays as least one or more of the contents set as default and the new contents at pre-set time intervals.

10. The terminal of claim 1, wherein the display unit sequentially displays the contents in horizontal direction or vertical direction.

11. The terminal of claim 1, wherein the display unit displays the contents on at least one of an upper, lower, or side area of the display unit.

12. A contents provision system, comprising:

a mobile communication terminal for displaying one or more contents set as default and one or more new contents if the new contents have been received; and

a server for providing one or more of the default contents and the new contents to the terminal.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the mobile communication terminal downloads the displayed contents from the server by using an update function.

14. The system of claim 13, further comprising:

a register server for registering at least one or more mobile communication terminals that use the update function.

15. The system of claim 12, wherein the terminal may analyze pre-set options included in the contents and then display the contents according to the analysis result.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the pre-set options comprise an identification (ID), a sequence number, a start time and an end time.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the start time is counted from a time point at which the corresponding contents start to be displayed.

18. The system of claim 16, wherein the end time is counted from a time point at which the start time starts to be counted.

19. A method for providing contents to a user, comprising:

displaying at least one or more contents set as default;

stopping or delaying the previously displaying of the contents, if new contents are received; and

,

displaying the new contents.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the default contents are sequentially displayed.

21. The method of claim 19, wherein the new contents are sequentially displayed.

22. The method of claim 19. wherein priorities of the new contents are set as prior to priorities of the default contents.

23. The method of claim 19, further comprising

analyzing pre-set options included in as least one or more of the default contents and the new contents, thereby the displaying is performed according to the analysis result

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the pre-set options comprise at least one or more of an identification (ID), a sequence number, a start time and an end time.

25. The method of claim 23, wherein the start time is counted from a time point at which the corresponding contents start to be displayed.

26. The method of claim 23, wherein the end time is counted from a time point at which the start time starts to be counted.

27. The method of claim 19, further comprising:

registering to a register server.

28. A mobile communication apparatus, comprising:

a screen to display information;

a transceiver to receive multimedia announcements via a communications network;

a memory to store the multimedia announcements received by the transceiver; and

a processor, cooperating with the screen, the transceiver, and the memory to perform the steps of,

checking one or more display characteristics of the received multimedia announcements,

determining a sequential order of displaying the multimedia announcements on the screen based on the checked display characteristics, and

displaying the multimedia announcements at dynamic or static positions on the screen according to the determined sequential order.

29. The apparatus of claim 28, wherein the display characteristics indicate one or more screen locations and display durations for each multimedia announcement to be displayed on the screen.

30. The apparatus of claim 28, wherein the display characteristics indicate a size or resolution of the multimedia announcement displayed on the screen.

31. The apparatus of claim 28, wherein the processor controls a sequential display order for different types of multimedia announcements based on their priority settings.

32. The apparatus of claim 38, wherein an emergency announcement has higher priority for displaying than a non-emergency announcement.
