1. A method for implementing transmission parameter control at a transmitting station, comprising:
- querying a transmission parameter control module for a transmission schedule, the transmission schedule comprising at least one schedule entry defining a set of transmission parameter controls as they pertain to a destination address; and
transmitting at least one packet of data to the destination address according to the transmission parameter controls of at least one schedule entry from the transmission schedule.

Abstract
A system and method for implementing transmission parameter control at a transmitting station is described. The exemplary system and method comprises querying a transmission parameter control module for a transmission schedule. The transmission schedule comprises at least one schedule entry defining a set of transmission parameter controls as they pertain to a destination address. At least one packet of data is then transmitted to the destination address according to the transmission parameters controls of at least one schedule entry from the transmission schedule. A system and method for selecting an antenna configuration corresponding to a next transmission of packet data is also disclosed.

a processor configured to execute at least one program comprising instructions for executing a transmission schedule, the transmission schedule comprising at least one schedule entry defining a set of transmission parameter controls as they pertain to a destination address;
an antenna apparatus having a plurality of antenna configurations, each antenna configuration corresponding to a radiation pattern;
a communication device configured to a plurality of physical data rates, the communication device configured to implement at least one of the physical data rates as defined by the transmission parameter control; and
an antenna element selector device configured to implement at least one of the plurality of antenna configurations in the antenna apparatus as defined by the transmission parameter control, the antenna apparatus further configured to transmit one or more data packets to the destination address in accordance with the at least one of the physical data rates and the at least one of the plurality of antenna configurations as defined by the transmission parameter controls of the transmission schedule executed by the processor.

13. A machine readable-medium having embodied thereon a program, the program comprising instructions for the execution of a method for implementing transmission parameter control at a transmitting station, the method comprising:

querying a transmission parameter control module for a transmission schedule, the transmission schedule comprising at least one schedule entry defining a set of transmission parameter controls as they pertain to a destination address;
configuring a communication to implement at least one physical data rate as defined by the transmission parameter controls; and
configuring an antenna apparatus in a particular radiation pattern as defined by the transmission parameter controls; and
transmitting at least one packet of data to the destination address according to the transmission parameters controls of at least one schedule entry from the transmission schedule.

14. A method for selecting an antenna configuration corresponding to a next transmission of packet data, comprising:

selecting an antenna configuration for an initial packet data transmission, the antenna configuration corresponding to a particular station address;
transmitting packet data to the particular station address using the selected antenna configuration; and

17. A method for selecting an antenna configuration corresponding to a next transmission of packet data, comprising:

receiving a series of data packets, each of the series comprising at least two data packets;
transmitting at least one acknowledgment packet following receipt of at least one of the series of data packets;
counting the number of transmitted packets that occur between the received series of data packets; and
determining when a subsequent series of data packets is expected from a transmitting antenna at a receiving antenna based on the number of transmitted packets, wherein the antenna configuration for the receiving antenna corresponds to optimizing receipt of data packets from the transmitting antenna expected to transmit the subsequent series of data packets.

18. A method for selecting an antenna configuration corresponding to a next transmission of packet data, comprising:

calculating a first cyclic redundancy check for a serial transmission of packet data prior to transmission of the packet data, the cyclic redundancy check corresponding to at least a portion of the packet data to be transmitted;
transmitting the packet data and the first cyclic redundancy check corresponding to the at least a portion of the packet data transmitted to a receiving station;
calculating a second cyclic redundancy check for the received packet data following acknowledgement of receipt of the transmitted packet data by the receiving station;
determining whether a transmission error has occurred based on at least whether the first cyclic redundancy check matches the second cyclic redundancy check;
if a transmission error has occurred and as identified by the failure of the first cyclic redundancy check to matches the second cyclic redundancy check, identifying the media access control address of the received packet data;
selecting an antenna configuration based on the media access control address of the received packet data, the antenna configuration corresponding to a known antenna configuration associated with optimized receipt of packet data from the particular station address; and
receiving a re-transmission of packet data using the selected antenna configuration, the re-transmission of packet data comprising at least one packet not received during the transmission of the packet data and first cyclic redundancy check.

19. A method for selecting an antenna configuration corresponding to a next transmission of packet data, comprising:

tracking a packet inter-arrival time for at least one flow of data, the at least one flow of data being temporally periodic;
compiling a schedule of expected arrival times for the at least one flow of temporally periodic data, the schedule based on at least a prediction of subsequent arrival time of the tracked flow of data; and
selecting an antenna configuration corresponding to the at least one flow of data prior to the expected arrival time of the at least one flow of temporally periodic data, the antenna configuration corresponding to a known antenna configuration associated with optimizing receipt of packet data from the particular station address.

a processor configured to execute at least one scheduling program, the scheduling program associated with a determination an antenna configuration for the reception of packet data;
an antenna apparatus having a plurality of antenna configurations;
