Abstract

A pelvis fixing device with a screw for the latter is provided. The screw comprises a screw element with a threaded shank and a head. Also provided is a holder which receives the head and which comprises a lower portion facing towards the shank side and an upper portion facing away from the shank side. The two portions encompass a rod. Also provided is a screw element for connecting the two portions and simultaneously fixing the rod. The pelvis fixing device comprises at least two such screws and at least one rod connecting them.

14. A fixing device for fixing bones the fixing device comprising:

at least one screw comprising a screw element having a threaded shank and a ball segment-shaped head;

a holder for encompassing two rods and receiving the ball segment-shaped head, the holder comprising a lower portion facing towards the shank side and an upper portion facing away from the shank side; and

two screw elements for connecting together the upper and lower portions and simultaneously fixing the screw element and the two rods in the holder.

The fixing device according to claim 14, wherein the upper portion and the lower portion each comprise a ball segment-shaped recess at its center and have identical structure wherein the two portions when assembled to form the holder are inversely symmetrical about a plane extending through the center of the ball-shaped recess.

16. The fixing device according to claim 15, wherein the lower portion and the upper portion each at its center has a through hole to the ball segment-shaped recess for passage of the threaded shank on the one hand and a tool for turning the screw on the other hand.

17. The fixing device according to claim 14, wherein the lower portion and the upper portion have a center and two sides opposing each other about the center, wherein each side comprises cylinder segment-shaped recess for receiving a rod.

The fixing device according to claim 17, wherein the lower portion comprises a ball segment-shaped recess at the center and between each of the cylinder segment-shaped recesses and the ball segment-shaped recess a threaded bore hole and the upper portion has two bore holes located coaxially with the threaded bore holes in the lower portion for cooperation with the screw elements to connect the two portions.

19. The fixing device according to claim 14, wherein the lower portion and the upper portion each at its center has a through hole for passage of the threaded shank on the one hand and a tool for turning the screw on the other hand.

20. The fixing device according to claim 14, wherein the upper portion has a slot dividing the upper portion into a first half and a second half which are separated by the slot.

21. The fixing device according to claim 14, wherein the upper and lower portions have identical structure and are arranged inversely symmetrically to each other to form the holder, each portion comprising:

a through hole near the center comprising a ball segment-shaped recess for receiving the ball segment-shaped head and for passage of the threaded shank or a tool for turning the screw;

two threaded bore holes on opposite sides of the through hole for cooperation with the screw elements for connecting the two portions;

two edges on opposite sides of the through hole; and

a cylinder segment-shaped recess on each of the opposite edges for receiving a rod.

22. The fixing devices according to claim 14 further comprising a second fixing device connected to the fixing device.

23. A fixing system comprising two pair of fixing devices connected by primary rods, the fixing system further comprising a connecting device for connecting to at least one primary rod of each pair of the fixing devices, the connecting device comprising:

a connecting rod comprising a shank and two ends and having a ball at each of its two opposite ends;

at each end of the connecting rod, a holder which receives the ball and comprises two portions that are identical structures and are arranged inversely symmetrically to each other to form the holder, the two portions being structured and arranged to encompass a primary rod; and

a screw element for connecting the two portions and simultaneously fixing the ball and the primary rod;

wherein the two portions at their center each comprise. a threaded bore hole for cooperation with the screw element to connect the two portions and, on one side of the threaded bore hole, each comprise a cylinder segment-shaped recess for receiving the rod and, on the other side of the threaded bore hole opposite the cylinder segment shaped recess, each comprise a ball segment-shaped recess for receiving the ball and, starting from the ball segment-shaped recess and running outward away from the threaded bore hole, each comprise a recess for receiving the shank.
