Abstract

A method for matching an object with a set of qualifications to an object with a set of requirements includes examining the object with the set of qualifications to produce a list of qualifications without a hierarchy, removing duplicate qualifications, and matching list of qualifications without a hierarchy with removed duplicates to the set of qualifications.

Claims

1. A method for matching an object with a set of qualifications to an object with a set of requirements, comprising:

examining the object with the set of qualifications to produce a list of qualifications without a hierarchy;

removing duplicate qualifications; and

matching list of qualifications without a hierarchy with removed duplicates to the set of qualifications.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the object with a set of qualifications is a person object representing a person and the object with a set of requirements is a position object representing a position.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the object with a set of qualifications has a hierarchical structure.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of removing duplicate qualifications comprises:

classifying each qualification of the list of qualifications without a hierarchy according to the level on the hierarchy of qualifications each particular qualification was in; and

determining a level of proficiency associated with each of the qualifications;

removing duplicate qualifications by comparing their hierarchy classification and level of proficiency.

5. A method for matching a person represented by a person object within a database to a position represented by a position object, having a hierarchy of qualifications, within the database, comprising:

examining the position object to determine a flattened list of qualifications;

classifying each qualification of the flattened list of qualifications according to the level on the hierarchy of qualifications each particular qualification was in;

determining a level of proficiency associated with each of the qualifications;

removing duplicate qualifications by comparing their hierarchy classification and level of proficiency; and

matching the flattened list of qualifications with removed duplicates to a set of required qualifications associated with the person object to determine a match between the person and the position.

6. A system for matching an object with a set of qualifications to an object with a set of requirements, comprising:

an examining unit for examining the object with the set of qualifications to produce a list of qualifications without a hierarchy;

a removing unit for removing duplicate qualifications; and

a matching unit for matching list of qualifications without a hierarchy with removed duplicates to the set of qualifications.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the object with a set of qualifications is a person object representing a person and the object with a set of requirements is a position object representing a position.

8. The system of claim 6, wherein the object with a set of qualifications has a hierarchical structure.

9. The system of claim 6, wherein the removing unit comprises:

a classifying unit for classifying each qualification of the list of qualifications without a hierarchy according to the level on the hierarchy of qualifications each particular qualification was in; and

a determining unit for determining a level of proficiency associated with each of the qualifications;

a duplicate-removing unit for removing duplicate qualifications by comparing their hierarchy classification and level of proficiency.

10. A system for matching a person represented by a person object within a database to a position represented by a position object, having a hierarchy of qualifications, within the database, comprising:

an examining unit for examining the position object to determine a flattened list of qualifications;

a classifying unit for classifying each qualification of the flattened list of qualifications according to the level on the hierarchy of qualifications each particular qualification was in;

a determining unit for determining a level of proficiency associated with each of the qualifications;

a removing unit for removing duplicate qualifications by comparing their hierarchy classification and level of proficiency; and

a matching unit for matching the flattened list of qualifications with removed duplicates to a set of required qualifications associated with the person object to determine a match between the person and the position.

11. A computer system comprising:

a processor; and

a program storage device readable by the computer system, embodying a program of instructions executable by the processor to perform method steps for matching an object with a set of qualifications to an object with a set of requirements, the method comprising;

examining the object with the set of qualifications to produce a list of qualifications without a hierarchy;

removing duplicate qualifications; and

matching list of qualifications without a hierarchy with removed duplicates to the set of qualifications.

12. The computer system of claim 11, wherein the object with a set of qualifications is a person object representing a person and the object with a set of requirements is a position object representing a position.

13. The computer system of claim 11, wherein the object with a set of qualifications has a hierarchical structure.

14. The computer system of claim 11, wherein the step of removing duplicate qualifications comprises:

classifying each qualification of the list of qualifications without a hierarchy according to the level on the hierarchy of qualifications each particular qualification was in; and

determining a level of proficiency associated with each of the qualifications;

removing duplicate qualifications by comparing their hierarchy classification and level of proficiency.

15. A computer system comprising:

a processor; and

a program storage device readable by the computer system, embodying a program of instructions executable by the processor to perform method steps for matching a person represented by a person object within a database to a position represented by a position object, the method comprising;

examining the position object to determine a flattened list of qualifications;

classifying each qualification of the flattened list of qualifications according to the level on the hierarchy of qualifications each particular qualification was in;

determining a level of proficiency associated with each of the qualifications;

removing duplicate qualifications by comparing their hierarchy classification and level of proficiency; and

matching the flattened list of qualifications with removed duplicates to a set of required qualifications associated with the person object to determine a match between the person and the position.
