Abstract

In the present invention, a moving-picture editing program (12) controls the recording of the data transmitted from a personal computer (1-1), into a user video-data management database (4). The program (12) determines whether the data should be supplied to another personal computer (1-2) in response to a demand made by the personal computer (1-1). The moving-picture editing program(12) supplies the data to the other personal computer (1-2) in response to the demand from the other personal computer (1-2) when it is determined that the data should be supplied to the personal computer (1-1). Hence, the data can be utilized by many other users.

Claims

1. A data-providing apparatus connected to a plurality of user apparatus over a network, said data-providing apparatus comprising:

a receiving means for receiving content data and its attribute data transmitted by a first user, the attribute data including the fee amount for the content data when the content data is supplied to another user;

control means for controlling the recording of the content data and the attribute data in association with a user ID of the first user;

data-supplying means for supplying the content data in response to the demand made by a second user; and

charging means for charging the second user for the fee by using a database in which a credit number and a user ID of the second user are recorded in association with each other.

2. The data-providing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the content data is video data.

3. The data-providing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the fee amount can be set as less than zero.

4. A data providing method, said method comprising:

receiving content data and its attribute data transmitted by a first user, the attribute data including the fee amount for the content data when the content data is supplied to another user;

controlling the recording of the content data and the attribute data in association with a user ID of the first user;

supplying the content data in response to the demand made by a second user; and

charging the second user for the fee by using a database in which a credit number and a user ID of the second user are recorded in association with each other.

5. The method according to claim 4, wherein the content data is video data.

6. The method according to claim 4, wherein the fee amount can be set as less than zero.

7. A data-providing apparatus connected to a plurality of user apparatus over a network, said data-providing apparatus comprising:

a device configured to receive content data and its attribute data transmitted by a first user, the attribute data including the fee amount for the content data when the content data is supplied to another user;

a device configured to control the recording of the content data and the attribute data in association with a user ID of the first user;

a device configured to supply the content data in response to the demand made by a second user; and

a device configured to charge the second user for the fee by using a database in which a credit number and a user ID of the second user are recorded in association with each other.

8. A computer readable medium containing program instructions for execution on a processor, the program performs the steps of:

receiving content data and its attribute data transmitted by a first user, the attribute data including the fee amount for the content data when the content data is supplied to another user;

controlling the recording of the content data and the attribute data in association with a user ID of the first user;

supplying the content data in response to the demand made by a second user; and

charging the second user for the fee by using a database in which a credit number and a user ID of the second user are recorded in association with each other.
