1. In a wire stripping tool for stripping insulation from an insulated wire, wherein the tool has a body and the stripped wire includes a bare conductor portion and an insulation portion, the improvement comprising a strip length scale for measuring a length of the bare conductor portion, comprising:

  • a wire stripping member for stripping insulation from an insulated wire, a receiving portion formed on the body of the tool and having a depth sufficient to receive at least a portion of the insulation portion;

    a channel formed on the body of the tool, aligned and communicating with the receiving portion, the channel having a depth sufficient to receive at least a portion of the bare conductor portion, the depth of the channel being less than the depth of the receiving portion so that an abutment is formed at the junction of the channel and receiving portion; and

    a plurality of gradation marks spaced along the channel and indicating the distance from the abutment.
