1. A sensor deployable within a pipe or vessel adapted to ascertain general and local corrosions when placed within, in contact with, or in proximity to a target system or apparatus for which cprrpsopm detection and/or analysis is desired, the sensor comprising at least one characteristic impedance corrosion element capable of conducting electrical current and a plurality of electrodes distributed on the corrosion element, wherein an impedance of a segment of the corrosion element measured between two predetermined electrodes relates to the corrosion on said segment, and wherein a change in geometry of each segment of the corrosion element is a direct measure of the effect of corrosion on that segment.
