A method of playing a personalized clip offers a choice between a clip played locally by a device associated with a terminal of a calling party and a clip played remotely by a device associated with a terminal of a called party when the calling party'"'"'s terminal is put on hold by the called party'"'"'s terminal. means for reading a clip in the terminal concerned if said predetermined option is that a clip must be played remotely.
