Abstract

In a facet joint reamer with a shank and teeth at the distal end, the distal reamer end is widened compared with the shank diameter.

Claims

1. Facet joint reamer with a shank and teeth at the distal end, wherein the distal end of the reamer is widened compared with the shank diameter.

2. Reamer according to claim 1, wherein the widening of the front end of the reamer extends at least over the height of the teeth.

3. Reamer according to claim 1, wherein the widening extends over roughly double the height of the teeth.

4. Reamer according to claim 1, wherein the widening is continuous and constant from the reamer diameter to the maximum diameter of the widening at the crests of the teeth.

5. Reamer according to claim 1, wherein the front end is widened between 2 and 5 mm in the vicinity of the crests of the teeth.

6. Reamer according to claim 1, wherein the widening at the crests of the reamer is approximately 0.4 mm.

7. Reamer, particularly according to claim 1, wherein a lip extends over a partial circumference and projects axially over the teeth.

8. Reamer according to claim 7, wherein the lip projects over the teeth by 1 to 3 mm.

9. Reamer according to claim 7, wherein the lip extends over an arc of 140 to 160φ

10. Reamer according to claim 7, wherein at least the front end of the lip is constructed as a rasp.
