Abstract

A data feed is defined with a data type and criteria. Each data type corresponds to a type of management related data provided by a management system. The management system is searched for all management related data that corresponds with the data type and the criteria. An aggregator collects the management related data that corresponds with the data type and the criteria. The collected management related data is rendered for a display.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method of communicating management related data provided by a management system to a user, the computer-implemented method comprising:

defining a data type and criteria, wherein the data type corresponds to a type of management related data provided by the management system;

querying for management related data that corresponds with the data type and the criteria;

collecting the management related data that corresponds with the data type and the criteria into an aggregator; and

rendering the collected management related data for a display.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the data type comprises one of an alert, an event, a ticket, a problem, a new report, availability of a pack, a performance indicator, a health status, a notification of a problem, updated management related data, tasks and changes in a performance indicator.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the criteria comprises at least one of severity, priority, a managed object, a group of managed objects, an assignee, a date created, a resolution state, a tag, a category, a description, an identifier and a name.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising associating an attachment to the collected management related data.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 4, wherein associating an attachment to the collected management related data comprises including an embedded link in the attachment.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising associating a link to the collected management related data.

7. The computer implemented method of claim 1, further comprising rendering an embedded link with the collected management related data, wherein the embedded link is configured to run a task or open a view on the user device to troubleshoot a problem.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising tagging the management related data.

9. The computer implemented method of claim 1, further comprising exposing the data type and criteria to the management system in a file share system

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein defining the data type criteria comprises defining a data feed record that includes the data type and the criteria.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein defining the data type and criteria comprises specifying the criteria in a URL by exposing a DHMTL page to the management system.

12. A system that communicates management related data to a user, the system comprising:

a management system configured to monitor operations of at least a managed object and provide management related data;

a database including data feed records, each data feed record including a datatype that corresponds with a type of management related data and a criteria;

a publisher configured to access the data feed records and query the management system for information that corresponds with the accessed data feed records, the publisher configured to send a data feed item that includes information obtained in the query.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the publisher comprises a web server that is adapted to dynamically and/or periodically create the data feed item.

14. The system of claim 12, wherein the publisher comprises a file share system that is adapted to dynamically and/or periodically create the data feed item.

15. The system of claim 12, wherein the management system manages a network of managed objects.

16. The system of claim 12, wherein the management system is included in an operating system of a computing device.

17. The system of claim 12, wherein the management system is adapted to receive tagging information from a user.

18. A computer-implemented method of communicating management related data, the computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving an indication that a user has subscribed to a defined data type and criteria;

querying a management system for management related data that corresponds with the data type and criteria which the user subscribed;

collecting the management related data that corresponds with the data type, the criteria and the user; and

rendering the collected management related data on a display.

19. The computer-implemented method of claim 18, further comprising exporting user subscriptions in an OPML file.

20. The computer-implemented method of claim 18, further comprising sending the collected management related data to a location remote from the display.
