Abstract

Information from communications is displayed in a calendar format. Text from the communications is used to determine whether a scheduling entry should be created. If so, text from the communication is used to create a proposed calendar or to-do list entry, which can be saved, modified or canceled by the user. Information from a call log can be filtered and displayed in a calendar format.

Claims

1. A method of organizing data associated with communications, comprising the steps of:

maintaining an electronic database including information regarding communication interactions between a user and other parties, wherein the database includes a date of each communication interaction;

displaying all or a selected portion of the communication interactions in a calendar format on a user processing device according to the date associated with the communication interaction.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the displaying step includes the step of filtering the information by specifying one or more other parties.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein a set of other parties is provided in a buddies list.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the database describes a type for at least some of the communication interactions and wherein the displaying step includes the step of filtering the information based on one or more specified types.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the database describes a subject for at least some of the communication interactions and wherein the displaying step includes the step of filtering the information based on one or more specified keywords.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the database includes notes associated with at least some of the communication interactions.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein a note may be selectively stored as a calendar entry.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the user can interact with the displayed information to initiate a new communication session.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein the maintaining step comprises the step of maintaining a database in a database server and further comprising the step of communicating a elected portion of the communication associated with the user to the user processing device responsive to selected filter criteria.

10. A method of generating entries for a scheduling program, comprising the steps of:

parsing information from a communication between two or more parties to determine whether the communication involves a scheduling event;

responsive to determining that the communication involves a scheduling event, automatically creating a proposed entry for the scheduling program including information derived from the communication.

11. The method of claim 10 wherein the step of automatically creating a proposed entry for the scheduling program includes the step of automatically creating a calendar entry.

12. The method of claim 10 wherein the step of automatically creating a proposed entry for the scheduling program includes the step of automatically creating a to-do list entry.

13. The method of claim 10 wherein said parsing step includes the step of interfacing with third party communications to translate information from the third party communications into a predetermined format.

14. Circuitry for organizing data associated with communications, comprising:

an electronic database including information regarding communication interactions between a user and other parties, wherein the database includes a date of each communication interaction;

circuitry for displaying all or a selected portion of the communication interactions in a calendar format on a user processing device according to the date associated with the communication interaction.

15. The circuitry of claim 14 wherein the displaying circuitry includes circuitry for filtering the information responsive to one or more specified other parties.

16. The circuitry of claim 15 wherein a set of other parties is provided in a buddies list.

17. The circuitry of claim 14 wherein the database describes a type for at least some of the communication interactions and wherein the displaying circuitry for includes circuitry for filtering the information based on one or more specified types.

18. The circuitry of claim 14 wherein the database describes a subject for at least some of the communication interactions and wherein the displaying circuitry for includes circuitry for filtering the information based on one or more specified keywords.

19. The circuitry of claim 14 wherein the database includes notes associated with at least some of the communication interactions.

20. The circuitry of claim 19 wherein a note may be selectively stored as a calendar entry.

22. The circuitry of claim 19 wherein circuitry for automatically creating a proposed entry for the scheduling program includes circuitry for automatically creating a calendar entry.

21. Circuitry for generating entries for a scheduling program, comprising:

circuitry for parsing information from a communication between two or more parties to determine whether the communication involves a scheduling event;

circuitry for automatically creating a proposed entry for the scheduling program including information derived from the communication responsive to determining that the communication involves a scheduling event.

23. The circuitry of claim 21 wherein circuitry for automatically creating a proposed entry for the scheduling program includes circuitry for automatically creating a to-do list entry.

24. The circuitry of claim 21 wherein said parsing circuitry includes circuitry for interfacing with third party communications to translate information from the third party communications into a predetermined format.
