Abstract

Management related data is provided to a user. Tags are attached to the provided management related data upon user instruction. A tag is way to identify a piece of management. The tags that correspond with the management related data are stored in a database of the management system.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method of organizing management related data, the computer-implemented method comprising:

providing management related data;

attaching tags to the management related data upon user instruction; and

storing the tags that correspond with the management related data in a database of the management system.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein providing the management related data comprises providing the management related data to the user through a console.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein providing the management related data comprises providing the management related data to the user as data feed items.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein attaching tags to management related data comprises automatically attaching tags to management related data based on a set of rules created by the user.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein attaching tags to management related data comprises attaching tags to help information for later access in troubleshooting problems with the management system.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising publishing the tags stored in the database to a centrally accessible location in the management system.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the tags included in the centrally accessible location are given a rating based on usability and popularity of the specific management related data that is tagged.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein providing the management related data to the user as data feed items comprises the step of:

defining a data type and criteria, wherein the data type corresponds to a type of management related data provided by the management system;

querying for management related data that corresponds with the data type and the criteria;

collecting the management related data that corresponds with the data type and the criteria into an aggregator as the data feed items; and

rendering the data feed items for a display.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein the criteria comprises tagged management related data stored in the database of the management.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein each tag comprises attributes that at least include one of an identifier and a keyword.

11. A system that organizes management related data, the system comprising:

a management system configured to monitor operations of at least a managed object and provide management related data;

a display configured to render the provided management related data to a user; and

a tagger configured to attach tags to the provided management related data rendered to the user.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the tagger is configured to automatically attach tags to the management related data based on a set of rules created by the user.

13. The system of claim 11, wherein each tag comprises an identifier.

14. The system of claim 11, further comprising:

a database including data feed records, each data feed record includes a data type that corresponds with a type of management related data and a criteria

a publisher configured to access the data feed records and query the management system for information that corresponds with the accessed data feed records, the publisher configured to send a data feed item that includes information obtained in the query to be rendered on the display.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the database is further configured to store the tags attached by the tagger.

16. The system of claim 14, wherein the criteria comprises tagged management related data stored in the database.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the user subscribes to the data feed record to receive management related data from the query of the management system that is related to the data type and the criteria.

18. A computer-implemented method of communicating management related data provided by a management system to a user, the computer-implemented method comprising:

defining a data type and criteria, wherein the data type corresponds to a type of management related data provided by the management system and the criteria corresponds with a tag;

querying for management related data that corresponds with the data type and the tag;

collecting the management related data that corresponds with the data type and the tag into an aggregator; and

rendering the collected management related data for a display.

19. The computer-implemented method of claim 18, further comprising attaching tags to the collected management related data rendered for the display.

20. The computer-implemented method of claim 19, further comprising storing the tags attached to the collected management related data in a database of the management system.
