Abstract

Embodiments of methods, apparatuses, systems and/or devices for forming a master page for an electronic document are disclosed.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

identifying at least a portion of the objects included in a page of an electronic document;

determining a layout of at least a portion of the objects; and

comparing the identified objects and/or the determined layout to one or more objects included in additional pages of the electronic document, to identify common objects and/or object layout; and

generating a master page based at least in part on the comparison, wherein the master page includes at least a portion of the identified common objects and/or object layout.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying common objects and/or object layout comprises identifying object patterns between and/or among two or more of the pages of the electronic document.

3. The method of claim 1, and further comprising:

generating at least one document object page, wherein the document object page includes at least a portion of the objects included in the electronic document; and

applying the at least one master page to the document object page to associate at least a portion of the document object page with the at least one master page.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the objects includes layout objects.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the layout objects comprise:

frames, data indicating document object position and/or dimensions, data indicating title and/or page number layout and/or header and footer content and/or layout, and/or combinations thereof.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the electronic document comprises an electronic document in portable document format (PDF) format.

7. A method of identifying layout patterns in an electronic document, comprising:

identifying the layout for one or more document objects included in one or more pages of an electronic document;

identifying an intersection of layout for document objects included in two or more pages of the electronic document;

determining affinity between and/or among two or more pages of the electronic document, wherein the affinity is determined based at least in part on the identified intersection; and

generating one or more master pages based at least in part on the determined affinity.

8. The method of claim 7, and further comprising:

generating one or more page sequences, based at least in part on the determined affinity; and

analyzing one or more page sequences to determine a most common sequence, wherein the one or more master pages are generated based at least in part on the determined most common sequence.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the most common sequence comprises a Highest Common Factor (HCF) sequence.

10. The method of claim 7, and further comprising:

generating at least one document object page, wherein the document object page includes at least a portion of the document objects; and

applying the at least one master page to the document object page, to associate at least a portion of the document object page with the at least one master page.

11. The method of claim 7, wherein identifying layout data comprises extracting page data for one or more pages of the electronic document and determining one or more properties of the extracted data.

12. The method of claim 7, wherein identifying an intersection comprises:

identifying at least a portion of the layout of a page of an electronic document;

comparing the identified layout to an identified layout of one or more additional pages of the electronic document, to identify recurring object and/or layout patterns; and

assigning a value to the intersection between the compared pages based at least in part on the comparison.

13. The method of claim 7, wherein determining affinity comprises:

determining an intersection value for a substantial portion of the document objects, and associating a weight for one or more of the objects.

14. The method of claim 7, wherein the generating one or more master pages comprises generating one or more document and/or layout objects based at least in part on the determined layout data.

15. The method of claim 7, wherein the generating one or more master page comprises generating fewer master pages than the number of pages in the electronic document.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein a single master page is generated for two or more pages of a sequence.

17. The method of claim 7, wherein the electronic document comprises an electronic document in portable document format (PDF) format.

18. A machine-readable medium having stored thereon instructions that if executed result in:

identifying at least a portion of the objects included in a page of an electronic document;

determining a layout of at least a portion of the objects; and

comparing the identified objects and/or the determined layout to one or more objects included in additional pages of the electronic document, to identify common objects and/or object layout; and

generating a master page based at least in part on the comparison, wherein the master page includes at least a portion of the identified common objects and/or object layout.

19. The machine-readable medium of claim 18, wherein identifying common objects and/or object layout comprises identifying object patterns between and/or among two or more of the pages of the electronic document.

20. The machine-readable medium of claim 18, wherein said storage medium further includes instructions that, if executed, further results in:

generating at least one document object page, wherein the document object page includes at least a portion of the objects included in the electronic document; and

applying the at least one master page to the document object page to associate at least a portion of the document object page with the at least one master page.

21. The machine-readable medium of claim 18, wherein the objects includes layout objects.

22. The machine-readable medium of claim 21, wherein the layout objects comprise:

frames, data indicating document object position and/or dimensions, data indicating title and/or page number layout and/or header and footer content and/or layout, and/or combinations thereof.

23. A machine-readable medium having stored thereon instructions that if executed result in:

identifying the layout for one or more document objects included in one or more pages of an electronic document;

identifying an intersection of layout for document objects included in two or more pages of the electronic document;

determining affinity between and/or among two or more pages of the electronic document, wherein the affinity is determined based at least in part on the identified intersection; and

generating one or more master pages based at least in part on the determined affinity.

24. The machine-readable medium of claim 23, wherein said storage medium further includes instructions that, if executed, further results in:

generating one or more page sequences, based at least in part on the determined affinity; and

analyzing one or more page sequences to determine a most common sequence, wherein the one or more master pages are generated based at least in part on the determined most common sequence.

25. The machine-readable medium of claim 24, wherein the most common sequence comprises a Highest Common Factor (HCF) sequence.

26. The machine-readable medium of claim 23, wherein said storage medium further includes instructions that, if executed, further results in:

generating at least one document object page, wherein the document object page includes at least a portion of the document objects; and

applying the at least one master page to the document object page, to associate at least a portion of the document object page with the at least one master page.

27. The machine-readable medium of claim 23, wherein identifying layout data comprises extracting page data for one or more pages of the electronic document and determining one or more properties of the extracted data.

28. The machine-readable medium of claim 23, wherein said storage medium further includes instructions that, if executed, further results in identifying an intersection comprising:

identifying at least a portion of the layout of a page of an electronic document;

comparing the identified layout to an identified layout of one or more additional pages of the electronic document, to identify recurring object and/or layout patterns; and

assigning a value to the intersection between the compared pages based at least in part on the comparison.
