1. A system comprising:
- an originating carrier configured to originate a telephone call by a user and convey the telephone call in an internet protocol (IP) format;
a service platform coupled to receive said telephone call in the IP format, wherein the service platform comprises a softswitch configured to;
terminate the telephone call; and
treat the telephone call by associating one or more features with the telephone call; and
route the treated telephone call;
a final carrier configured to terminate telephone calls routed by the service platform.

Abstract
A system and method for managing telephone communications. An originating telephone carrier originates telephone calls by users and conveys the telephone calls to an internet protocol network provider for termination. The internet protocol network provider conveys the received telephone calls to a service platform comprising a softswitch for termination. The service platform applies one or more services to received telephone calls and routes the terminated telephone calls to a final carrier. A final carrier receives the telephone calls from the service platform and terminates telephone calls. The originating carrier compensates the IP network provider for terminating calls conveyed by the originating carrier, the service platform compensates the IP network provider for telephone calls conveyed by the IP network provider to the service platform for termination, and the final carrier is configured to compensate the service platform for termination of calls received from the service platform or service platform'"'"'s internet protocol network provider.

an application server;

wherein the router is configured to route the terminated telephone calls to a final carrier.
