Abstract

A connector for connecting an implant device to tissue of a person'"'"'s body. The connector including a frame having first and second arms. The first and second arms define an opening, where at least a portion of the implant device is inserted through the opening. After insertion, an additional securing member is connected to the frame. The securing member is adapted to receive at least one suture to secure the frame to the tissue. The connector includes an adjuster that is movably connected to the first and second arms, where the adjuster is operable to cause the first and second arms to move toward each other and engage the implant device.

Claims

1. A connector for connecting an implant device to tissue of a person'"'"'s body, said connector comprising:

a frame including first and second arms, said first and second arms defining an opening, wherein at least a portion of the implant device is inserted through the opening;

a securing member connected to said frame, said securing member adapted to receive at least one suture to secure said frame to the tissue; and

an adjuster movably connected to said first and second arms, wherein said adjuster is operable to cause said first and second arms to move toward each other and engage the implant device.

2. The connector of claim 1, which includes an additional securing member positioned between said securing member and said frame.

3. The connector of claim 2, wherein said securing member includes a lip which substantially covers the additional securing member.

4. The connector of claim 2, wherein at least one of said securing members includes felt.

5. The connector of claim 2, wherein at least one of said securing members includes polyester.

6. The connector of claim 1, which includes a sealer removably connected to said frame.

7. The connector of claim 6, wherein the sealer includes an o-ring.

8. The connector of claim 1, wherein the adjuster is a screw which is threadingly engaged with at least one of the first and second arms.

9. The connector of claim 1, which includes a pin frictionally connected to one of said first and second arms to substantially minimize lateral movement of said adjuster.

10. The connector of claim 1, wherein said frame defines at least one opening sized to accept at least one suture for securing said frame to said securing member.

11. A connector for connecting an implant device to tissue of a person'"'"'s body, said connector comprising:

a frame including first and second cantilevered arms, said first and second cantilevered arms defining an opening, wherein at least a portion of the implant device is inserted through the opening;

a securing member connected to said frame, said securing member adapted to receive at least one suture to secure said frame to the tissue;

an additional securing member positioned adjacent to said securing member, said additional securing member being at least partially enclosed by said securing member; and

an adjuster movably connected to said first and second arms, wherein said adjuster is operable to cause at least one of said first and second arms to move toward said other of said first and second arms and engage the implant device.

12. The connector of claim 11, wherein the securing member includes a lip which substantially covers the additional securing member.

13. The connector of claim 11, which includes a sealer removably connected to said frame.

14. The connector of claim 13, wherein the sealer includes an o-ring.

15. The connector of claim 11, wherein the adjuster is a screw which is threadingly engaged with at least one of the first and second cantilevered arms.

16. The connector of claim 11, which includes a pin frictionally connected to one of said first and second cantilevered arms to substantially minimize lateral movement of said adjuster.

17. The connector of claim 11, wherein said frame defines a plurality of openings, each of said openings sized to accept at least one suture for securing said frame to said securing member.

18. A connector for connecting an implant device to tissue of a person'"'"'s body, said connector comprising:

a frame including first and second arms, said first and second arms defining an opening;

a positioner movably connected to the frame, said positioner defining an opening, wherein at least a portion of the implant device is secured in the opening and the positioner is moved to adjust the position of the implant device;

a securing member connected to said frame, said securing member adapted to receive at least one suture to secure said frame to said tissue; and

an adjuster movably connected to said first and second arms, wherein said adjuster is operable to cause said first and second arms to move toward each other and engage the implant device.

19. The connector of claim 18, wherein the positioner is made with a pliable material.
