1. A method for selectively blocking a remote purchase request in which a purchaser attempts to use a card number to make a remote purchase of an item from a vendor'"'"'s system, comprising:
- receiving and storing information from a purchase request information set including an origin of the purchase request representing either a telephone number or internet address, a card number, a requested item identification, and a number of requested items;
receiving and storing in a memory a current remote purchase request information set;
providing a logic subsystem separate from said vendor'"'"'s system;
determining, in said logic subsystem, whether the number of items in remote purchase requests from the origin in a same class as the requested item exceeds a threshold number of such items present into said logic subsystem; and
blocking the remote purchase request if the number of items in the same class as the requested item purchased from the origin exceeds the preset threshold number of such items.

Abstract
A method for partially verifying the legitimacy of a remote purchase request based on a card number from a card issuing financial institution. The method includes receiving and storing a first purchase request information set including an origin and a card number. Further, the origin and the card number are sent to the card issuing financial institution to determine if the origin matches an origin on file for the card number at the card issuing financial institution.

6. A method for partially verifying the legitimacy of a remote purchase request based on a card number from a card issuing institution and an origin from which said remote purchase request is made, comprising:
-
determining, based on a history of purchases made from said origin, a factor related to whether the remote purchase request is legitimate;
generating an indication that the remote purchase request is partially verified if a time period within which goods have previously been purchased using the card number or origin exceeds a numerical calculation including both a set time period and said factor; and
transmitting said indication to said card issuing institution together with data from said purchase request. - View Dependent Claims (7)

8. A method for partially verifying the legitimacy of a remote purchase request based on a card number from a card issuing institution and an origin from which said remote purchase request is made, comprising:
-
determining, based on a history of purchases made from said origin, a factor related to whether the remote purchase request is legitimate;
generating an indication that the remote purchase request is partially verified if a cumulative amount purchased using the card number or origin, including said remote purchase request, within a set period of time is less than or equal to a numerical calculation including both an amount-per-time limit and said first factor; and
transmitting said indication to said card issuing institution together with data from said purchase request. - View Dependent Claims (9)

10. A method for partially verifying the legitimacy of a remote purchase request based on a card number from a card issuing institution and an origin from which said remote purchase request is made, comprising:
-
determining, based on a history of purchases made from said origin, a first factor related to whether the remote purchase request is legitimate;
determining, based on a history of purchases made using said card number, a second factor related to whether the remote purchase request is legitimate;
generating an indication that the remote purchase request is partially verified if a time period within which goods have previously been purchased using the card number or origin exceeds a numerical calculation including both a set time period and a selected one of said first or second factors; and
transmitting said indication to said card issuing institution together with data from said purchase request. - View Dependent Claims (11)

-
determining, based on a history of purchases made from said origin, a first factor related to whether the remote purchase request is legitimate;
determining, based on a history of purchases made using said card number, a second factor related to whether the remote purchase request is legitimate;
generating an indication that the remote purchase request is partially verified if a cumulative amount purchased using the card number or origin, including said remote purchase request, within a set period of time is less than or equal to a numerical calculation including both an amount-per-time limit and a selected one of said first or second factors; and
transmitting said indication to said card issuing institution together with data from said purchase request. - View Dependent Claims (13)
