1. A wireless personal communications device, comprising:
- a hand held housing;
a wireless personal communications circuit, mechanically coupled to the housing, for communicating over a commercial cellular communications system or a peer-to-peer data communications network;
a user input sensor, mechanically coupled to the housing, able to detect a user input;
a sound input, mechanically coupled to the housing, for accepting an input containing sound information; and
an audio-visual effect generator, communicatively coupled to the user input sensor, that combines an audio-visual effect to the sound information based upon user input detected by the user input sensor.

An included audio-visual effect generator (210) generates an audio-visual effect based upon input detected by the user input sensor (306, 404, 410, 412, 502). A collaborative audio-visual effect creation system (110) accepts audio visual effects from multiple sources (106), uses a multiple user wireless data communications system to wirelessly communicate data among multiple wireless personal communications devices (106), accepts rating information from the wireless personal communications devices (106) and produces an audio-visual output that is derived received audio-visual effects based upon the rating information.

a multiple user wireless data communications system that wirelessly communicates data among a plurality of wireless personal communications devices; and

17. A machine implemented method for generating an audio-visual presentation, the method comprising:

detecting at least one input from a user to a wireless communications device housing;
generating a first audio-visual effect based upon the at least one detected input;
receiving, over a wireless data link, a plurality of remotely generated audio-visual effects;
accepting rating information from a plurality of wireless personal communications devices; and
