1. An emissivity detector comprising:

  • an infrared camera comprising;

    (1) a plurality of infrared sensitive detector elements arranged as a two-dimensional array; and

    (2) means for alternating the band of wavelength of infrared signals incident upon said detector elements;

    a processing circuit, including a memory having a plurality of atmospheric models for selection stored therein, said atmospheric models being used to correct the atmospheric transmission path of infrared signals from an object of interest to said camera, said processing circuit being adapted to compute emissivity and/or temperature of said object of interest; and

    a screen that is arranged to display an image representing said emissivity and/or temperature of said object of interest.
